←Back to Lessons回到課程總覽Led by Dr. Liu Dan, nine enthusiastic high school students from New York, USA, arrived in Taiwan in early July 2025 for a meaningful English teaching volunteer trip. Their visit aimed to foster cultural exchange and provide invaluable English language support to Taiwanese students. Although initial plans were slightly altered due to Typhoon Danas, the students embraced the opportunity to spend more quality time with their welcoming host families, deepening their cultural immersion. ChungShih Vocational High School was honored to host these bright young minds, facilitating a vibrant exchange of knowledge and culture.
In the afternoons, our American guests immersed themselves in the vibrant life at ChungShih Vocational High School. They engaged directly with our high school students, participating in a variety of hands-on and interactive activities designed to share Taiwanese culture and build camaraderie.

Woodworking workshop. Creativity flowed in the woodworking practical courses, where American and Taiwanese students collaborated on projects, showcasing their ingenuity and craftsmanship.
Taste of Taiwan. A highlight was undoubtedly the opportunity to savor authentic Taiwanese delicacies, a delicious way to explore the local culinary heritage and bond over shared meals.
Beyond the school grounds, the students also ventured out to gain a deeper understanding of the local community. They visited the bustling Yuanlin Fruit and Vegetable Market, experiencing the vibrant pulse of daily Taiwanese life. Their exploration extended to nearby historical sites and charming unique cafes, allowing them to truly feel the distinctive character of Changhua.
Though their volunteer activities spanned just a week, these American students forged deep and meaningful friendships with our Taiwanese students. More profoundly, they experienced the boundless care and warmth extended by their host families, creating unforgettable memories. This journey, filled with love and mutual exchange, left a profound and beautiful impression of Taiwan on them.
ChungShih Vocational High School eagerly anticipates the opportunity to welcome them back to Changhua next year, continuing this precious friendship across the Pacific!
