The Idea 出發點
Yangming's Diplomatic Pioneers (外交小尖兵) is the school's flagship international-education program. Its premise is simple but uncommon at the junior-high level: treat 13-year-olds as future citizens of the world, and give them real conversations with people from outside Taiwan.
陽明的外交小尖兵,是學校國際教育的旗艦課程。它的出發點簡單,但在台灣國中階段不常見——把 13 歲的孩子,當成未來的世界公民來對待,給他們和台灣以外的人,進行真實對話的機會。
What that looks like in practice: a small cohort of student "ambassadors" each year, selected for both their English and their willingness to speak under pressure; a curriculum that mixes formal English with international-current-affairs discussions; and, increasingly, video sessions with native-English teachers based abroad.
在實作上:每年由一小群學生「小尖兵」組成,挑選的不只是英文程度,還包括「在壓力下願意開口」的特質;課程結合正式英語與國際時事討論;近年更加上與駐外英語母語教師的視訊課程。
The Recent Partnership 最近的合作
The most recent season featured Teacher Melanie, based in New York City, coordinated through My Culture Connect. Across the Pacific, students discussed sustainable development and critical thinking with someone who teaches every week from a different time zone. Why It Matters 這個課程的意義
For most Taiwanese 13-year-olds, English is something that happens on a worksheet. The ambassadors program turns it into something that happens with a person on a screen who is actually waiting for an answer. That shift — from "performing English for a teacher" to "speaking English to be understood" — is what the program is really designed to produce.
對大多數台灣的 13 歲孩子來說,英文是發生在學習單上的事。外交小尖兵把英文變成「螢幕前真的有人在等你答話」的事。從「為老師而英文」到「為了被聽懂而英文」——這個轉變,正是這個課程真正想要創造的東西。
