At Siangtian, learning happens inside the building and out — in the rice paddy, in the buckwheat fields, under the beauty trees in bloom. And English is woven through all of it: a weekly sentence posted for every class, a library of classroom phrases, and student-led bilingual announcements over the school broadcast. Not a subject. A way of showing up each day. 在香田，課在教室裡上，也在田野間發生——水稻生態田、路邊的蕎麥花田、夏天盛開的美人樹下。英語貫穿其中：每週給全校的一句話、一座課室英語影片庫、學生親自播出的雙語廣播。不是一門課，而是每天出現的方式。
For a small country school, the question is not how many words a child can memorise — it is whether English shows up at all in the rhythm of the week. So we built Weekly English: a single sentence, used by every class from Grade 1 to Grade 6, organized each semester by grade level — 低年級 · 中年級 · 高年級.
對偏鄉小校來說，問題從來不是「孩子背了多少英文單字」——而是英文有沒有出現在這一週的日常裡。所以我們做了「每週英語」：每週一句，全校一年級到六年級通用，按學期整理，分低、中、高年級三欄。
Built by My Culture Connect and demonstrated by Sarah Thomas, the Classroom English library gives every teacher at Siangtian a reference for the English they can use each day — "Open your books," "Good try," "Can you repeat that?" — modeled naturally, ready to play in class.

Every school day begins with a morning broadcast. At Siangtian, we are building a student broadcast team that delivers announcements in both English and Chinese — opening with "Good morning, Siangtian," and ending with the weather. This playlist gives student broadcasters the phrases they need, modeled by Sarah Thomas and Susan Rose.
每個上學日從廣播開始。在香田，我們正在建立一支學生廣播小組，用中英雙語播報——「Good morning, Siangtian！」開場，氣象報告收尾。這個 playlist 由 Sarah Thomas 與 Susan Rose 老師示範廣播用語，讓學生主播開口有依據。
A typhoon flattened the teacher dormitory beside the school road. The school decided not to rebuild. The ground was reborn as a rice paddy — the 香田好米生態田. Each year, in partnership with a local Erlin rice mill, our children plant and harvest two seasons of Koshihikari rice. The grain is hulled at the mill and returns to the school cafeteria as the rice in our lunches. One field, one school, one full circle.
一場颱風吹倒了校門口馬路旁的教師宿舍。學校決定不重建，將這塊地改闢為水稻生態田——「香田好米生態田」。每年，我們與在地碾米廠合作，由孩子親手插秧、收割越光米，一年兩期。稻穀送到碾米廠處理後，回到學校的營養午餐裡。一塊田、一所學校、一個完整的循環。
Two seasons paint the school. In winter, white buckwheat blooms wash across the fields beside the road — a color you cannot get in a textbook. In summer, the silk-floss "beauty trees" line the school road in pink and purple. Inside the gate, our running track is real, living grass — a rarity among Taiwanese schools today.
兩個季節為校園上色。冬天，路邊蕎麥花田一片潔白——這是課本給不了的顏色。夏天，校門口的「美人樹」開滿粉紫花朵。校園內，跑道是真正的天然草皮——在今日台灣校園裡已屬少數。
Our seasonal lessons do not need a bus. Just a walk to the school gate, and a teacher who can name what is in bloom. Children learn what a year actually feels like — not from a calendar, but from the color of the road home.
我們的戶外教學不必搭車。走到校門口，老師指著正在綻放的花朵，課就上了。孩子是從回家的那條路所變換的顏色，認識「一年」是什麼。
