Two Weeks in Vietnam, Without Leaving Tianzhong

From 13 to 24 July, Santan ran a two-week New Immigrant Summer Camp on Vietnamese culture and food. Teacher Pan Qiu-xuan, a professional Vietnamese-language teacher, came to teach in person and led the children on a journey of multicultural discovery across language and cuisine.

三潭國小舉辦為期兩週（7/13–7/24）的「115 年度新住民樂學—越南文化與美食饗宴暑期營隊」，邀請專業越南語教師潘秋玄老師親自授課，帶領孩子們展開一場跨越語言與美食的多元文化探索之旅。

The course started from the Vietnamese alphabet and moved through spelling practice to everyday phrases, building the children's confidence in a new language step by step. Teacher Pan also introduced Vietnam's geography and customs in plain, vivid language, and arranged a traditional costume experience and a DIY southern-Vietnamese rice-dumpling charm, so the children felt the country through their own hands.

課程內容精彩豐富，從認識越南語字母、拼音練習到基礎生活用語，幫助學生建立語言學習的信心；潘老師更深入淺出地介紹越南的地理環境與國情風俗，並安排越南傳統服飾體驗及「越南南部粽子吊飾 DIY」，讓孩子們在手作與體驗中感受濃厚的異國風情。

The food was the highlight. The children got to know and then taste one authentic dish after another: rich pho noodle soup, fresh and light Vietnamese spring rolls, crisp-outside soft-inside pillow cake, distinctive rice vermicelli and fragrant prawn crackers. They ate with real enjoyment, and came to understand what makes Vietnamese food its own.

美食體驗更是營隊的一大亮點！活動中帶領學生認識並親口品嚐各式道地越南佳餚，包括湯頭濃郁的越南河粉、清爽可口的越南春捲、外酥內軟的枕頭餅、風味獨特的米線以及香酥的蝦餅，大家吃得津津有味，深刻體會越南飲食文化的獨特魅力。

On the last day the camp went on the road. Teachers and students travelled together to the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung and to Taichung's ASEAN Square, where the children walked through streets full of Southeast Asian life, practised their Vietnamese with real people, and enjoyed Vietnamese food once more — putting the classroom to work in the real world.

營隊最後一天特別安排戶外參訪教學，師生一同前往台中自然科學博物館與台中東協廣場。孩子們走進充滿東南亞文化風情的街區，親身練習越南語進行現場交流，並再次享用美味的越南料理，將課堂所學靈活運用於真實情境中。

A camp like this shows how deep and how wide multicultural education can go. Through a lively, hands-on process, it leads children to respect and accept cultures other than their own, and plants the seed of an international outlook.

本次創新的新住民語文樂學活動，不僅展現多元文化教育的深度與廣度，更成功促進族群融合。透過生動有趣的學習歷程，引導學生學會尊重與包容不同文化，並在心中播下多元國際觀的種子。
