Fifteen Bundles from the Dazhongye Temple

Chairman Chen Liang-cheng, on behalf of the management committee of the Fangqiaotou Dazhongye Temple, has donated fifteen bundles of supplies to the school — to encourage our students, and to do some good for education in this neighborhood. Our thanks to him and to the committee.

感謝陳兩成主委代表枋橋頭大眾爺廟管理委員會捐贈本校物資 15 份，鼓勵莘莘學子，嘉惠地方教育。

A donation like this says something about where this school sits. Qiaotou stands in the middle of a village whose temples are its community centers — and the temple that gave these fifteen bundles carries an older name for this place in its own: Fangqiaotou 枋橋頭, the head of the plank bridge.

這樣的捐贈，說明了這所學校的位置。橋頭國小坐落在一個廟宇就是村民信仰中心的庄頭裡——而捐出這十五份物資的廟，名字裡還帶著這一帶更早的地名：枋橋頭。

The bundles were lined up along the front of a classroom before being handed out. Fifteen of them is not a symbolic number — it is fifteen households’ worth.

物資發放前先整齊排在教室前方。十五份不是一個象徵性的數字——那是十五個家庭用得上的份量。
