Teachers' Maker Workshop · Laser Engraving, Round Two創客再出發｜教師鐳雕研習第二彈

Today the Hsinmin teaching team returned to the Tianwei Junior High Self-Manufacturing Education and Technology Center to continue their STEAM maker and laser-engraving workshop.

This session brought together teachers from the fourth, fifth and sixth grades along with colleagues from the Student Affairs and Counselling offices — everyone full of enthusiasm as they dived once more into the maker world.

Under the careful, step-by-step guidance of Teacher Chen Yi-cong from Hosin Elementary, the teachers moved from vector-image conversion, artwork design and positioning the wood, all the way to laser-engraving in practice. Every step was full of challenge and surprise, and as each finished, personalised piece appeared, the room rang with gasps and admiration.

Maker education is not just about operating machines; it cultivates problem-solving, creative thinking, cross-disciplinary integration and a learning-by-doing spirit. Working with their own hands, everyone felt anew that the warmth of making something can only truly be understood by doing it.

In the future Hsinmin will keep weaving STEAM and the maker spirit into its curriculum.
