彰化縣最古老的學校，也是孕育彰化文學家的搖籃。
Chungshan traces its roots to 1896, when a language institute was established in Lukang's Dizangwang Temple. It moved to the Changhua Confucius Temple, became the Changhua Public School in 1898, and in 1921 settled at its present home at the foot of Bagua Hill. More than a century later, Chungshan stands as the oldest school in Changhua County — one of the very first modern schools in all of Taiwan.
中山國小的根源可追溯到1896 年鹿港地藏王廟的國語傳習所，1898 年改制為「彰化公學校」，1921 年遷至八卦山麓現址至今。歷經一個多世紀，中山是彰化縣最古老的學校，也是全臺灣最早的新式學校之一。
On campus stands the North Wing Classroom, a graceful two-story building with Roman-arched corridors, designated a historic building in 2001. Before it grows the one-of-a-kind Poem Tree, inscribed with the names and works of twelve distinguished literary alumni — among them Lai He, "the father of Taiwan's New Literature." For this, Chungshan is known as the "Cradle of Literary Giants in Changhua."
校園裡矗立著北棟教室——羅馬圓拱式走廊的兩層樓歷史建築，2001 年登錄為歷史建築；其前方則是獨一無二的詩文樹，鐫刻著十二位傑出文學家校友的姓名與作品，其中包括「臺灣新文學之父」賴和。因此中山被譽為「彰化文學家的搖籃」。
Today Chungshan is also a school of the stage and the pool: its Chinese orchestra, swimmers, and Asia-Pacific champion harmonica team have earned top national honors, while a bilingual campus brings English into everyday school life.

The two-story North Wing Classroom — Roman-arched corridors and a dual-sloped roof, once the longest single building in Changhua — has watched over students for more than eighty years.
