In late March 2026, Hsiao Yen-Hsuan (蕭彥煣), an 8th-grader in Class 15 of Yangming Junior High School, travelled to Tianjin, China as part of Taiwan's national delegation to the 2026 World Junior Wushu Championships. Competing in tai chi quan — one of wushu's most demanding disciplines, where the slowest movement carries the most weight — she returned home with a gold medal.
2026 年 3 月底，陽明國中二年 15 班蕭彥煣同學作為台灣代表隊一員，前往中國天津參加2026 世界青少年武術錦標賽。她參賽的項目是武術中最考驗功底的太極拳——慢的動作往往承擔最重的重量。她帶回一面金牌。
The world juniors are a competition where every athlete on the floor has been training since before they could write their own name. To stand out at that level — and to do so in tai chi, where speed and force are not the metric — requires something different from what younger forms of competition reward. It requires composure under attention.

Yangming's wushu team is one of the school's longest-running specialty programs. It sits alongside the harmonica orchestra and the science club as one of three traditions parents in Changhua City quietly point to when they explain why they chose Yangming for their child. A gold at the world juniors is the strongest recent confirmation that the program's investment in patient, daily training pays off — and that a Taiwanese junior-high student can stand on a world podium without flinching.
陽明國中的武術隊是學校歷史最久的特色團隊之一，與口琴隊、科學社團並列為彰化市家長口耳相傳「選擇陽明的三個理由」之一。一面世界青少年金牌，是這個團隊近年最有力的驗證——日復一日、有耐性的訓練終究會結成果，也證明一位台灣的國中學生，可以在世界級的領獎台上穩穩站著、不退縮。
