Culture Is Never Far — Understanding Brings Us Close

Wunsiang recently held a multicultural education workshop, inviting a guest speaker to share her own life story — one rooted in years of caring for new immigrant families and championing cultural exchange. From family caregiver, to cultural worker, to association leader, her journey reminded everyone that culture isn't a label — it's each person's precious life story.

During the workshop, teachers didn't just listen — they experienced multiculturalism with their own hands. Together, they made a mung bean and fresh milk sago dessert, tasting the comfort of a different food culture, and folded red silk into a Zhuang-style embroidered ball, symbolizing luck, reunion, and blessing, discovering the meaning woven into a traditional craft.

Multicultural education isn't only about learning another country's festivals, food, or clothing. More importantly, it's about learning to respect every life journey, and to see the unique cultural heritage behind every child and every family. When understanding replaces stereotypes, and appreciation replaces distance, a school campus can become a place where every culture is respected, understood, and allowed to flourish.

Wunsiang will keep weaving multicultural education into everyday curriculum and campus life, helping children grow up with respect and openness — and with the kind of international awareness that welcomes difference rather than fears it.
