Children of the Watermelon Fields 西瓜田裡的孩子
Zhenping Village is the heart of Fuxing Township's watermelon country. Every summer, trucks pull up to fields right beside our campus to load melons for markets all over Taiwan. Our school has turned that geography into a curriculum: a food-and-farm education program brings the watermelon — from seed, to soil, to lunchbox — into the classroom. Even our playground says it out loud: a giant watermelon-shaped slide that has become the school's best-known landmark.
鎮平村是福興鄉西瓜產地的核心。每到夏天，大卡車就停在校園邊的田裡，把整顆整顆的西瓜送往全台市場。文昌國小把這片地理變成了課程——「食農教育計畫」帶孩子從種子、土壤一路認識到餐桌上的西瓜。連校園裡都把這件事說得很大聲：那座大家都記得的西瓜造型溜滑梯，就是我們最廣為人知的地標。
