Saying the Love Out Loud

Some things are easier to make than to say. On Saturday, September 19, Qiaotou set aside a morning for both. Parents and children came into the audiovisual room together for the school’s 2026 慈孝在我家 — Kindness and Filial Love at Home — a family-education day the school has now run for the ninth year in a row, funded each of those years by an application to the Changhua County Family Education Center.

有些事情，做出來比說出口容易。9 月 19 日（六）上午，橋頭國小把這兩件事放進同一個早上：家長與孩子一起走進視聽教室，參加 115 年度「慈孝在我家～子職教育活動」。這已經是本校連續第 9 年申請到彰化縣家庭教育中心經費辦理這項活動。

The morning opened with Principal Chen Chun-wen, and then belonged to the guest teacher: Nora Huang, an English teacher invited in for her subject, Care and Gratitude. Her plan for the day had two halves, and she put them both on one slide. The first was the talk, built around a line that is harder to live up to than it looks: the love I can say out loud.

活動由陳俊文校長開場，接著就交給這天的講師——學校特別禮聘的優質英語老師 Nora Huang（黃美茜），講題是「關懷與感恩～體驗教育與共學活動」。她把一整個早上的設計放在同一張投影片上，分成兩個部分。前半段是講座，主軸是一句說起來容易、做起來不容易的話：我說得出口的愛。

It never turned into a lecture. There were warm-up questions for parents and children to answer to each other, a story — For the Birds — to talk about afterward, quiz questions on what we owe the people we live with, and review games to finish. English came in the way it does when nobody announces it: a word here, a whole sentence there, and by the end the children were using both.

但這並不是一堂單向的演講。中間穿插了親子問答暖身、故事情境《For the Birds》、倫理教育素養問答，最後再用 Review Games 複習一輪。英文就這樣自然地混進來——這裡一個單字、那裡一整句話，沒有人特別宣布「現在開始講英文」，但孩子到後來兩種語言都用上了。

The second half moved the English from the screen into their hands — English in My Hands. There were two things to make. First, word magnets: printed English word cards to cut out and turn into magnets for the fridge door, so the words carry on being read at home long after the morning is over. Then clay picture frames, and here the grown-ups had to join in properly — soft colored clay pressed into faces, flowers and small shapes around a wooden frame, one pair of hands steadying while the other pressed.

後半段把英文從螢幕上移到手上——主軸是 English in My Hands，兩項手作。第一項是「英文單字冰箱貼」：把印好的英文單字卡剪下來，做成可以貼在冰箱門上的磁貼，活動結束後，那些字還會繼續在家裡被看見、被唸出來。第二項是「搞怪創意黏土畫框」，這一項大人躲不掉——把彩色黏土捏成笑臉、小花和各種造型，一點一點按在木頭相框上，一雙手扶著，另一雙手壓下去。

At the end everyone lifted a finished frame for the photograph, and every frame was different. That was rather the point. A morning of questions, a story, a game and two pieces of handiwork, all pulling in the same direction: say it while you can. Thank you. I love you. Let’s say it out loud, together.

最後大合照，每個人都把完成的畫框舉起來，而且沒有兩個是一樣的——這正是這場活動要的效果。一個早上的問答、故事、遊戲與兩件手作，其實都指向同一件事：趁還說得出口的時候說。謝謝你、我愛你——讓我們一起把愛說出來！
