There is a kind of applause that celebrates more than achievement — it honors a journey that never gave up.
At the 2026 Presidential Education Award ceremony, Huatan Junior High student Li Pei-hua received one of the nation’s highest student honors, and stepped onto the stage to speak on behalf of every junior-high award recipient in Taiwan.
Courage, in the end, always finds its own light.
Before an audience watching from across the country, she spoke plainly and from the heart about her own journey, thanking everyone who had walked beside her — and telling every struggling student the same thing: however hard the road, don’t let go of hope, because moving forward with courage always leads somewhere worth arriving.
In that moment, she spoke for more than herself — she spoke for every child who has ever had to fight for their dream. Her words carried no flourish, only sincerity, and they moved everyone in the room to see, once again, what education is truly for: not only passing on knowledge, but walking beside a life as it grows, and keeping hope alive.
Thank you to the family, teachers, and community that walked this road with Pei-hua. Because of that quiet, steady support, she could dream boldly and walk toward a wider world.
Today, we are proud of Li Pei-hua. Tomorrow, Huatan Junior High will keep walking beside every student who needs it — so that every life gets the chance to be seen, to be believed in, and to shine.
