Reading that connects to the world — Hsinmin Elementary completes its PIRLS 2026 mission. Yesterday, Hsinmin's Class 403 was honoured to be selected as one of the schools representing Taiwan in the PIRLS 2026 international reading-literacy assessment. This was not just a test, but a learning journey in step with the world.

Reading has never been merely an exam subject; it is the foundational ability for all learning. At Hsinmin we have always believed: only by being able to read can we understand the world, and only by understanding can we truly learn how to learn.

Through internationalised question formats and a digital platform, this assessment placed the children in a global perspective, exposing them to the front line of reading-literacy challenges and prompting us once more to deepen our daily practice of reading education.

From advance preparation to the day's procedures — instructions, a two-stage reading test and a student questionnaire — the whole process went smoothly. The children were focused and engaged, showing fine learning attitudes and reading ability, which was truly gratifying.

Special thanks to Teachers Yi-jun and Yi-yin for their careful guidance, and to Director Yi-liang for coordinating, so that the assessment ran smoothly to a successful close. Thanks too to the parents for their support — your help with the upcoming parent questionnaire will make this international study more complete and meaningful. At Hsinmin we value not only academic performance, but even more our children's ability to understand the world.

昨天,新民國小403班很榮幸被抽中,成為代表臺灣參與「PIRLS 2026國際閱讀素養評量」學校之一。這不只是一場測驗,更是一場與世界同步的學習歷程。

閱讀,從來不只是考試科目,而是所有學習的基礎能力。

本次評量透過國際化題型與數位平台,讓孩子站在全球視角,接觸最前線的閱讀素養挑戰,也讓我們再次檢視並深化閱讀教育的日常實踐。

從事前準備到當天測驗流程(指導語、兩階段閱讀測驗、學生問卷),整體過程順利圓滿,孩子們專注投入,展現良好的學習態度與閱讀能力,令人欣慰。
