Guanyu sent off its 81st graduating class this June, together with the 46th class of the attached kindergarten — a ceremony so well-loved by families that the school streamed it live so grandparents and working parents could share the moment from anywhere. After more than a century of schooling by the sea, every Guanyu graduation links one more generation to the long story of this coastal village.
管嶼今年六月歡送第 81 屆畢業生，並同時為附設幼兒園第 46 屆畢業生祝福。這場典禮深受家庭重視，學校特別全程線上直播，讓阿公阿嬤與上班的爸媽都能在任何地方一同見證。逾百年的濱海辦學，管嶼的每一場畢業典禮，都把又一個世代接上了這座海岸村莊悠長的故事。
This summer Guanyu welcomes a new wave of first-graders — 71 incoming students, who will be sorted into three classes. To keep the process fair and transparent, class placement is done by computerized random draw through the Lukang-district school alliance, with families warmly invited to attend in person. New friendships, new teachers, and a new chapter all begin at once.
今年暑假，管嶼迎來新一批小一新鮮人——71 位新生，將編成3 個班級。為了讓編班公平透明，學校透過鹿港區策略聯盟採電腦亂數編班，並誠摯歡迎家長親臨現場觀看。新的友誼、新的老師、新的篇章，就此一同展開。
As the weather heats up and children head for the water, Guanyu — a school that lives beside the sea — steps up its water-safety education. Students practice the four moves of water self-rescue, the five steps to save a drowning person ("call, call, reach, throw, row"), and the ten rules to prevent drowning. The message is simple and serious: a little more preparation means a lot less regret.
天氣漸熱、孩子戲水頻繁，身為濱海學校的管嶼特別加強水域安全教育。學生練習水中自救四招、救溺五步（「叫、叫、伸、拋、划」）與防溺十招。叮嚀既簡單又慎重——「多一分準備，少一分遺憾」。
Strong bones start young. Through Changhua County's school-children calcium program, every Guanyu student receives one carton of fresh milk a week during term time — around forty weeks across the school year. It is a small, steady habit of health, served right alongside the daily school lunch, that adds up over a childhood.
健康的骨骼從小打底。透過彰化縣學童補鈣計畫，管嶼每位學生在學期間每週可獲得一瓶鮮乳，整學年約供應四十週。這是一個小而穩定的健康習慣，伴著每天的營養午餐，在童年裡一點一滴累積。

Guanyu's story began in 1918 as a four-year village school, in the days when this coast belonged to a very different world. Through name changes, new townships, and the births of several neighboring schools that started as Guanyu branch campuses, it grew into the Guanyu Elementary School we know today, taking its present name in 1968. In 2017 the whole community gathered to celebrate the school's 100th anniversary — a hundred years of children walking in from the fishing villages and farms of Fuxing.
管嶼的故事始於民國 7 年（1918），當時是一所四年制的村莊學校。歷經數度更名、行政區調整，以及多所原為管嶼分校、後來各自獨立的鄰近學校誕生，它逐漸成長為今日的管嶼國民小學，並於民國 57 年（1968）定為現名。民國 106 年（2017），整個社區齊聚一堂歡慶創校一百週年——一百年來，孩子們從福興的漁村與農田走進這所學校。
The land around Guanyu is a living lesson in geography. Where the old Zhuoshui River once flowed, farmers now grow watermelons in the sandy soil; on the wide tidal flats, fishing families raise oysters and clams; and on the salt-touched coastal fields, dairy farms like the Fubao dairy zone have taken root. For Guanyu's children, terms like "tide," "harvest," and "livelihood" are not abstractions — they are home.
管嶼周邊的土地，本身就是一堂活生生的地理課。在舊濁水溪流經之處，農民於砂質土壤裡種出西瓜；在遼闊的潮間帶，漁家養殖蚵仔與文蛤；在鹽分偏高的海岸農地上，福寶酪農專區等畜牧業落地生根。對管嶼的孩子而言，「潮汐」「收成」「生計」這些詞並不抽象——那就是家。
One of Guanyu's most celebrated graduates is Liang Chieh-te, the documentary director behind the acclaimed film Fly, Kite Fly (老鷹想飛). For more than forty years he has filmed Taiwan's birds and wild places, and his work helped spark a national conversation about the overuse of pesticides. From a coastal village school to a life spent protecting the natural world — his journey shows Guanyu students just how far the path from here can lead.
管嶼最為人稱道的校友之一，是紀錄片導演梁皆得——感動全台的紀錄片《老鷹想飛》正是出自他手。四十多年來，他拍攝台灣的鳥類與山林，作品更喚起社會對農藥過量使用的關注。從一所濱海的村莊學校，到一生投身守護自然——他的歷程讓管嶼的孩子看見，從這裡出發的路，能走得多遠。
