Dongshan Elementary

From a sub-class to a century, the same hills look on.

Dongshan sits on the eastern edge of Yuanlin City, at the foot of the Bagua Mountain Range and next door to the Baiguo Hills scenic area. The school began in March 1918 as a sub-class of the local public school — funded by neighbours and built on land donated by the Jiang family's Zhongde Tang. A year later, it stood on its own as Dongshan Public School. Since then, seventeen principals have taken the lead, and the children of five villages — Nandong, Zhongdong, Dongbei, Zhenxing, and Dafeng — have called it home.

東山國小位於員林市東郊、八卦山脈山腳，緊鄰百果山風景區。民國 7 年 3 月成立為東山分教場，由鄉里募款、江姓種德堂捐地建校；隔年獨立為東山公學校。光復後改名為員林鎮東山國民小學，傳承至今已歷十七任校長，服務南東、中東、東北、鎮興、大峰五里子弟。
