Taylor read the picture book Giraffe Problems to the younger children. The giraffe's problem is his super-duper-long neck! Then a turtle comes along and helps him see that a long neck is very useful after all.

Taylor 為低年級孩子講述繪本《Giraffe Problems》。長頸鹿的煩惱，就是那超～級～無～敵～長的脖子！而一隻烏龜闖入，幫助長頸鹿了解——原來他的長脖子可是很管用呢！

This time, Taylor read The Fabulous Friend Machine. Whenever Taylor read the name of an animal, the children had to make that animal's sound!

這一次說的故事是《The Fabulous Friend Machine》。當 Taylor 念故事念到動物的名稱時，小朋友要發出該動物的聲音喔！

A professor from the English Department of National Changhua University of Education came to Xishi to guide the English teacher and Teacher Taylor as they taught this lesson together.

學術交流基金會指導顧問、彰師大英語系張善貿教授蒞校，指導英語教師與外師 Taylor 協同教學授課。

In the same lesson, the students worked in small groups, and Taylor walked around the room to help each group.

同一堂公開課裡，學生分組進行活動，Taylor 老師在教室裡走動，協助每一組同學。

The class learned theme words for fruit and food. A word can change at the end, too: one strawberry, two strawberries!

認識主題單字——水果和食物。單字的尾巴也會變喔：一個 strawberry，兩個就變成 strawberries！

To score in the matching game, each player had to say the English word for the picture they picked!

最後要能說出所選圖片的英文，配對遊戲才能得分！

Space came up in the fifth graders' English textbook, so our English Teaching Fellow, Teacher Taylor, prepared a lesson about outer space. After listening, the children were full of questions about life with no gravity!

由於五年級英語課文中提到太空，我們的 ETF Teacher Taylor 設計了一些太空相關知識，讓五年級的孩子們對外太空有初步的認識。孩子們聽完後，對於無重力的外太空生活，充滿疑問與好奇！

From Tuesday to Friday, every class listens to ICRT News Lunch Box at lunchtime. Write the answers to Friday's three questions on a raffle ticket and drop it in the office box — you may win tea time and games with Taylor the next Tuesday!

每週二到週五班級用餐時間收聽 ICRT News Lunch Box，如果將星期五當天三道題目的答案寫在摸彩卷上，投入辦公室摸彩箱，就有機會於週二中午和外師 Taylor 一起享用下午茶及玩益智遊戲哦！

The lucky winners played a board game with Taylor. In this game, players are mouse captains who must fit all the animals onto the boat without wasting any space — a real test of spatial sense!

外師 Taylor 和收聽 ICRT News Lunch Box 後答題正確、又幸運被抽中的孩子一起玩桌遊。《動物泛舟》這個遊戲是玩家扮演老鼠船長，努力用最不浪費空間的方式讓動物們全數上船，考驗的是孩子的空間感！

At Xishi's English picture-book read-aloud contest, the third graders of Class 3-Zhong had practiced hard, and they read the story in a lively way. They learned a lot along the way!

西勢國小英語繪本朗讀比賽，三年忠班的小朋友經過努力的練習，把文章唸得很生動，小朋友在這當中也有很多的學習及收穫！

Class 6-Zhong read We're Going on a Bear Hunt. Before the contest, everyone was so nervous that their palms were sweaty and their hearts were racing. On stage, someone accidentally said “We can't go under it” instead of “We can't go over it,” and another student almost mispronounced “swishy swashy,” making the audience laugh. Despite a few funny mistakes, they finished their reading. In the end, they breathed a sigh of relief and felt proud of their courage!

六年忠班參加英語朗讀比賽，朗讀《We're Going on a Bear Hunt》。比賽前，大家緊張得手心冒汗、心跳加速；上台時，有人不小心把 “We can't go over it.” 念成 “We can't go under it.”，還有同學差點把 “swishy swashy” 念錯，逗得台下哈哈大笑。雖然出了一些好笑的小差錯，他們還是順利完成朗讀，最後大家都鬆了一口氣，也為自己的勇氣感到驕傲！

The lively, lovely children of Class 1-Xiao are learning what to do and when to do it — a self-discipline skill every one of them is building!

學習什麼時間做什麼事，是活潑可愛的一孝孩子，每一個都會具備的自律能力。

In life class, the children went outside to get to know the plants on campus. They learned three ways to observe a plant: smell it with your nose, measure it with your hands, and look closely with your eyes.

生活課——認識校園的植物。透過實地觀察來認識校園的植物，並學習觀察植物的方法：用鼻子聞、用手比大小、用眼睛看。

In Tuesday's reading class, the students first learned what a newspaper is. Then each of them got a copy of a children's weekly newspaper to read. They read carefully and tried to find new words in the articles.

星期二的閱讀課，學生認識報紙後，發給學生一人一份《國語週刊》，讓學生閱讀。學生認真地閱讀自己的報紙，並試著找出文章中新學到的語詞。

During Wednesday morning time, volunteer moms taught the children to make bouquets of cookies that you can eat. Anyone who gets one is sure to feel surprised and happy!

Class 3-Ren tried making mochi. They learned about different kinds of sticky rice, chose long-grain sticky rice, and pounded it by hand to make their very own treat!

Class 6-Ren tried a blindness experience. The children found out how helpless it feels when part of your body stops working, and how people learn to adapt. The hope is that they will respect others more and take good care of their own bodies.

六年仁班進行失明體驗活動，讓小朋友體會當人體失去功能時的無助與適應方式，希望小朋友藉此更加懂得尊重他人與珍惜自己的身體。

September 9 is National Sports Day in Taiwan. Taylor jumped rope with the students and felt the energy of Xishi kids!

To welcome Lunar New Year, students in the bilingual class wrote their biggest wishes on red spring couplets during winter break — and they wish everyone a Happy New Year!

迎接農曆新年的到來，雙語樂學班的學生在寒假期間，在紅色春聯上寫下他們最想要的祝福，並祝大家新年快樂！

On a sunny morning, the first graders put on light backpacks and happily walked to the Wenwu Temple near school for a field trip. They were lucky to meet a star who was filming a show there, and everyone took a photo together!

風和日麗的早晨，一年級的我們背著輕便的背包，開心地步行到離學校很近的文武廟進行校外教學。到達時，我們很幸運地遇到明星也到文武廟拍戲，我們一起合影留下紀念。

The students visited Fuxing Junior High School for a career-exploration day. They learned how a cam works and used the idea to make their own moving toys.

到福興國中進行職業體驗，了解凸輪結構原理，並根據此原理製作了作品。

On a field trip to Tainan, linked to their social studies class, the students visited the National Museum of Taiwan History. A special exhibition on sound let them hear voices and sounds from different times and places.

學生到臺南校外教學，結合社會課程，參觀國立臺灣歷史博物館。當時博物館正進行「聽見」聲音展覽，可以聽見不同年代、不同地點的聲音表現。

Today we joined the science challenge in front of Changhua Train Station. We learned lots of science, and it was fun and meaningful. What a happy day!

今天我們參加了彰化火車站前的科學闖關活動，學到很多科學知識，好玩又有意義，真是開心的一天！
