One school, two townships, one hundred and seven years

Wansing Elementary School began on April 1, 1919, when Erlin Public School opened a sub-class in Wansing village. By 1924, that sub-class had grown into a school of its own — the first child graduated in March 1925. Across nineteen principals and four name changes (sub-class, sub-branch, public school, elementary school), Wansing has carried generations of children from the rice fields of Erlin into the wider world.

Today, twelve classes and roughly two hundred and twenty students fill a quietly beautiful campus — white teaching wings around a red running track, a Japanese-style courtyard, and a school district that crosses township lines all the way into Fangyuan. We are not a big school. But we have been here long enough to become part of how this corner of Erlin remembers itself.

萬興國小起源於民國 8 年（1919 年）4 月 1 日——二林公學校在萬興庄設立的「分離教室」。民國 13 年（1924 年）獨立為「萬興公學校」，民國 14 年送走第一屆畢業生。從分離教室、分教場、公學校到國民小學，歷經 19 任校長、四度更名，萬興載著一代又一代二林孩子，從稻田走向更寬廣的世界。

今日的萬興，12 個班、約 220 名學生，駐守著一座靜謐而完整的校園——白色教學樓圍著紅色跑道、日式庭園、跨二林與芳苑兩個鄉鎮的學區。我們不是大校，但我們在這裡夠久了，久到已經成為二林這一角土地，記憶自己的方式之一。

One Hundred Years of Stories 百年校史 · 19 任校長

Few country schools in Changhua can name their first nineteen principals. Wansing can. From Kakihara Keiroku, who chartered our school in 1924, to Wu Kuei-chih, our nineteenth principal since August 2021, each name marks a chapter in the way Erlin raised its children. We keep that ledger with care — not as nostalgia, but as a promise that the next chapter will be worth keeping too.

彰化的偏鄉小校裡，能完整列出歷任 19 位校長的不多。萬興可以。從 1924 年的首任校長柿原啟六，到 2021 年 8 月上任的第 19 任校長吳貴枝，每一個名字都是二林這片土地，照顧自己孩子的一個章節。我們慎重地保留這份紀錄——不是出於懷舊，而是承諾：下一個章節，也會值得寫下來。

The Star Lounge 星星閣・閱讀的家

In 2024, with NT$1.9 million from the Changhua County Reading Plan and the design hand of Yu Chieh-mao, Wansing turned an underused space into the Star Lounge — a library of warm wood and quiet white where stories are met, not just read. Director Fan Cheng-ying, our reading lead, won fourth place countywide in the 2026 reading-literacy item-writing competition. At Wansing, books have a room of their own, and a champion behind the door.

2024 年，萬興以彰化縣府「書福悅讀計畫」190 萬補助、結合室內設計師余杰茂的規劃，將校內一個閒置空間改造為「星星閣」——以白色與原木為基調，讓孩子遇見故事，而不只是讀過故事。負責閱讀的范承英主任，更於 2026 年獲彰化縣線上閱讀認證命題徵選全縣第四。萬興的書，有自己的房間；房門後，有一位專屬的守護者。

The 3D Murals 3D 彩繪牆 · 校園地標

Walk our outer corridors and you'll meet the Milky Way, then a deep-sea whale shark, then a Jurassic dinosaur. Three large 3D murals turn the school's walls into a landmark that draws visitors from across the county — and they turn an ordinary recess into a small expedition. We don't apologize for the joy of a school that looks like an adventure.

走過萬興的外廊，你會先遇見銀河，再遇見深海鯨鯊，最後是一隻侏羅紀的恐龍。三幅大型 3D 彩繪牆，把校園的牆面變成全縣聞名的地標，也把平凡的下課時間，變成一場小小的探險。一所看起來像探險的學校，我們不為這份快樂道歉。

Inside the Star Lounge, the lighting is warm, the chairs invite, and the books are chosen the way a good neighbor lends one to you. Reading at Wansing is not a race; it is a habit of slowing down enough to be changed by a sentence.

在星星閣裡，燈光是溫的、椅子是邀請式的、書是像鄰居借給你那樣被挑選出來的。閱讀在萬興不是比賽——而是一個讓自己慢下來，慢到能被一句話改變的習慣。

Walls That Take You Somewhere 能把你帶去某個地方的牆

Three 3D murals — a galaxy, a whale shark in the deep sea, a Jurassic dinosaur — turn the corridors of an ordinary school day into three small journeys. Visitors come to take photos. Our children walk past them on the way to lunch.

三幅 3D 彩繪牆——一條銀河、一隻深海鯨鯊、一隻侏羅紀恐龍——把日常的走廊，變成三趟小小的旅行。外校的人來拍照；萬興的孩子，每天上下學從它們身旁經過。

Weekly English, Made for Us 每週英語 ─ 為萬興量身打造

Each week, our students meet a new English sentence on the school site. Built with My Culture Connect, the Weekly English corner is the small but steady door through which an English-speaking world walks into our hundred-year campus.

每週，孩子在學校網站上認識一句新英文。由人師教育協會（My Culture Connect）共同建置的「每週英語」是一道小而穩定的門——讓英語的世界，慢慢走進這座百年校園。

One School Across Two Townships 跨二林・芳苑的萬興大家庭

Our school district reaches across the township line into Fangyuan's Jianping Village. That makes us, quietly, a school of two communities — and a daily reminder that "where you live" need not mean "where you stop."

萬興的學區跨過鎮界，延伸到芳苑鄉建平村第 6 鄰。這讓我們默默成為一所「兩個社區的學校」——也每天提醒孩子：你住的地方，不必就是你的世界邊界。
