One school, two townships, one hundred and seven years
Wansing Elementary School began on April 1, 1919, when Erlin Public School opened a sub-class in Wansing village. By 1924, that sub-class had grown into a school of its own — the first child graduated in March 1925. Across nineteen principals and four name changes (sub-class, sub-branch, public school, elementary school), Wansing has carried generations of children from the rice fields of Erlin into the wider world.
Today, twelve classes and roughly two hundred and twenty students fill a quietly beautiful campus — white teaching wings around a red running track, a Japanese-style courtyard, and a school district that crosses township lines all the way into Fangyuan. We are not a big school. But we have been here long enough to become part of how this corner of Erlin remembers itself.
萬興國小起源於民國 8 年（1919 年）4 月 1 日——二林公學校在萬興庄設立的「分離教室」。民國 13 年（1924 年）獨立為「萬興公學校」，民國 14 年送走第一屆畢業生。從分離教室、分教場、公學校到國民小學，歷經 19 任校長、四度更名，萬興載著一代又一代二林孩子，從稻田走向更寬廣的世界。
今日的萬興，12 個班、約 220 名學生，駐守著一座靜謐而完整的校園——白色教學樓圍著紅色跑道、日式庭園、跨二林與芳苑兩個鄉鎮的學區。我們不是大校，但我們在這裡夠久了，久到已經成為二林這一角土地，記憶自己的方式之一。
