At Tachu, the afternoon comes alive with clubs. Young calligraphers grind ink and shape characters in the Calligraphy Club; budding scientists chase reactions in the Magic Science Club; story-lovers turn pages in the English Picture-Book Club; and curious explorers head outdoors with the Little Darwin Nature Club. Each club lets students follow their own curiosity — and discover a talent they might not have known they had.
在大竹，下午的校園因社團而熱鬧起來。書法社的孩子磨墨運筆、寫出端正字體；魔幻科學社的小科學家追逐各種反應；英文繪本社的故事迷一頁頁翻讀；小達爾文探索社的好奇寶寶則走向戶外。每個社團都讓孩子追隨自己的好奇心，發現連自己都不知道的天賦。
Drums beat, batons spin, and the whole field fills with rhythm — the flower-drum baton team is one of Tachu's proudest traditions. Students train hard to move as one, learning timing, teamwork, and the courage to perform in front of a crowd. When they take the stage at school and community events, they carry the spirit of Tachu with every beat.
鼓聲響起、彩棒飛旋，整個操場充滿節奏——花鼓棒隊是大竹最自豪的傳統之一。孩子們勤奮練習、力求動作一致，從中學會節奏感、團隊默契，以及在眾人面前演出的勇氣。每當他們站上校園與社區活動的舞台，每一個鼓點都帶著大竹的精神。
In Tachu's teaching garden, learning gets its hands dirty. Students plant and harvest their own rice, tend vegetables, and watch food grow from seed to table. Along the way they learn where a meal really comes from — and why every grain is worth respecting. It is food education you can taste.
在大竹的教學菜園裡，學習是會弄髒手的。孩子們親手種稻、割稻，照顧蔬菜，看著食物從種子長到餐桌。一路上，他們明白一頓飯真正從何而來，也懂得為什麼每一粒米都值得珍惜。這是嚐得到的食農教育。
Tachu's green campus is a classroom of its own. Through recycling, energy-saving, campus greening, and plant-spotting walks, students learn that caring for the environment starts with small daily habits. From sorting waste to reading the labels on the trees they pass each day, Tachu children grow into thoughtful citizens of the land.
大竹的綠色校園，本身就是一間教室。透過資源回收、節能減碳、校園綠化與植物觀察，孩子們學到：愛護環境，從每天的小習慣開始。從垃圾分類，到認得每天經過的那棵樹上的解說牌，大竹的孩子長成懂得善待土地的公民。
Earthquakes, fires, typhoons — Taiwan's children need to know what to do. Tachu's disaster-prevention education teaches students how to stay calm and act fast when it matters most, with drills and lessons that turn safety knowledge into instinct. Being prepared is one of the most important lessons a school can give.
地震、火災、颱風——臺灣的孩子必須知道該怎麼辦。大竹的防災教育透過演練與課程，教學生在關鍵時刻保持冷靜、迅速行動，把安全知識變成本能反應。學會做好準備，是學校能給孩子最重要的功課之一。
Each year, the whole school turns to words. In the school language-arts contest, students step up to recite, tell stories, write, and speak — testing their courage as much as their command of language. It is a celebration of the spoken and written word, and a launch pad for those who go on to represent Tachu at the city level.
每一年，全校都把焦點放在「語文」上。在校內語文競賽中，學生上台朗讀、說故事、寫作、演說——考驗的不只是語文能力，更是上台的勇氣。這是一場語言的盛會，也是孩子代表大竹挑戰全市賽事的起跑點。
Every May, Tachu students give a carnation — and a heartfelt thank-you — to the mothers and caregivers who love them. A small flower carries a big lesson: gratitude. Moments like these remind us that a good school grows kind hearts as carefully as sharp minds.
每年五月，大竹的孩子獻上一朵康乃馨，向疼愛他們的母親與家人說一聲謝謝。一朵小花，承載著一個大功課——感恩。這樣的時刻提醒我們：好的學校，培養善良的心，和培養聰明的腦袋一樣用心。
Tachu's young artists put their best work forward for the Changhua County Student Art Exhibition. From bold colors to careful detail, their paintings show how much imagination lives inside this small school — and how proudly Tachu nurtures creativity alongside reading and writing.
