To deepen healthy-eating education on campus, SingHua invited Teacher Hung, a project manager at the central kitchen, to give our upper graders a fun, hands-on panna cotta class. Built around the idea “eat smart, eat light,” the lesson joined nutrition knowledge with real cooking, helping children build healthy habits from the food they eat every day.

Teacher Hung began with where ingredients come from and how to read the nutrition labels on dairy products, showing students what makes each ingredient special and how to choose foods that are right for them. Then the children made panna cotta themselves — stirring the ingredients, controlling the temperature and measuring the right amounts, step by step, until each had a panna cotta of their own. Along the way they discovered how cooking works and learned more about how food is made.

Beyond the fun of cooking, the class also brought in the ideas of eating less processed food, cutting down on sugar and keeping meals light — showing that tasty and healthy can go together. By making panna cotta with their own hands, students learned not only cooking skills but also why choosing good ingredients and eating well matter, turning healthy-eating knowledge into everyday action.
Many thanks to Teacher Hung for the expert guidance and generous sharing. Food education is no longer just knowledge in a textbook — it has become a real experience at the table. We will keep offering hands-on lessons that help children understand food, choose well and value every meal, so the seeds of healthy eating can take root and grow.
