A village named for the road between two towns
The name Lushang — literally "on the road" — comes from its location along the old route linking Fanzaiwa to Erlin Street by way of Xinwu. Before 1920 the settlement was known as Lushangcuo; it later divided into the villages of Lushang, Furong, Sancheng, and Luping. Lushang itself began in 1760, the 25th year of the Qianlong era, as a single-surname village founded by settlers of the Xie family.
The campus sits at the southernmost tip of Fangyuan Township, bordered by homes to the east and farmland on the other three sides — flat, open, and free of tall buildings nearby. Past the front gate and courtyard stands a two-storey school building, with classrooms and offices on the first floor and the principal's office and school history room above. The Huai-en Pavilion greets visitors just inside the gate, with the student dining hall behind it, while a tree-lined boulevard and basketball court open up to the southwest.
路上地名起源於此處位於昔日自番仔挖經新厝抵二林街的路上，因此得名。大正9年（1920）以前名路上厝，聚落分屬於路上、福榮、三成、路平等四村。路上厝為清乾隆25年（1760）由謝姓進入拓墾而成的聚落，係由謝姓所組成的同姓村。學校位置在芳苑鄉的最南端，校園四周除東邊有住家外，另外三邊均為農田，校園地勢平坦，四周亦無高聳之建築物。
校內空間規劃簡單明瞭，一進入校門，過了中庭即是校舍，校舍為兩層樓建築。第一樓層主要為辦公室及班級教室，第二層樓主要為校長室及校史室，左右兩側分別為專科教室和社團教室。進入校門後的右手邊有懷恩亭，懷恩亭後即是學生午餐廚房及餐廳，由學校東邊側門進入的話，可以看到教師機汽車車棚及學生腳踏車車棚；校舍後方為操場及遊戲器材區，學生活動空間大，校園西南側有樹蔭大道及籃球場。
