Welcome to Luoyang Elementary School. Here in Beidou Township, Changhua County, we work to give our students a comprehensive and diverse education, one that encourages hands-on learning and real exploration. Our mission is to raise well-rounded young people with strong academic foundations, an eye for art, and a genuine passion for the natural world.
螺陽國小位於彰化縣北斗鎮，我們致力於提供全面而多元的教育，鼓勵孩子實作學習與探索。我們的使命，是培養有堅實學術基礎、藝術敏感度，並對環境充滿熱情的全人。
Our school is proud of a focus all its own: butterflies and rice farming. By weaving these two living subjects into the curriculum, we teach ecological sustainability from the ground up, and grow a deep appreciation for nature in our students — an understanding of why caring for the environment matters, and how every living creature is connected to every other.
學校一直以對蝴蝶的復育與水稻的種植教育的獨特關注而自豪。透過把蝴蝶與食農教育整合到課程中，我們推動生態永續，並培養學生對自然世界的深刻理解——理解環境守護的重要，以及所有生物之間彼此相連的關係。
To make that education whole, we lean on experiential learning: children take part instead of looking on. Actively joining in the process is how they build critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration — the skills that will serve them long after they leave us.
為確保學生接受全面的教育，我們強調透過各種實作活動進行體驗式學習。積極參與學習歷程，能讓孩子培養批判性思維、解決問題與協作的能力，在未來的成長路上持續發揮作用。
Reading matters more than ever in a fast-moving digital age, so we run a dual reading literacy programme. It strengthens the traditional reading of printed books, and at the same time equips children to navigate, judge and understand what they read on a screen.
認識到閱讀素養在快速變遷的數位時代更形重要，我們實施雙閱讀素養計畫。這不僅提升學生閱讀傳統紙本的能力，也讓他們具備瀏覽、判讀與理解數位閱讀材料所需的能力。
We also believe that what happens outside the timetable shapes a child just as much. With 22 clubs — soccer, basketball, violin, dance, Go, inline skating and more — plus a full outdoor-education programme, every student can find their own interest, their own talent, and their own colourful childhood. And through our young art guides programme, children develop their artistic skills and then share that love of art with the wider community.
在螺陽，我們認為課外活動對孩子的全面發展同樣關鍵。螺陽有多元的戶外教育及22 個社團教學，例如足球、籃球、小提琴、舞蹈、圍棋、直排輪等等，讓學生擁有多采多姿的彩色童年。此外，我們致力推廣藝術教育，小小藝術導覽員讓孩子發展藝術技能，並與更廣的社區分享他們對藝術的熱情。
North of the Dongluo River.
位於東螺溪之北，因而命名為「螺陽」。
The school stands on the north bank of the Dongluo River — and in classical Chinese naming, the sunny north side of a river is its yang. So Luo from the river, yang from the sunlit bank: Luoyang. Our crest says the same thing in pictures — a smiling sun held inside the green spiral of a snail's shell.
學校座落於東螺溪之北，古來水之北為「陽」，因而命名為螺陽。校徽也把這個名字畫了出來：一顆微笑的太陽，被綠色的螺旋輕輕環抱。
The campus itself covers 3.31 hectares — wide lawns, deep tree cover and a great deal of living wildlife, which is exactly what makes the rest of our curriculum possible.
校地面積 3.31 公頃，擁有豐沛的自然生態環境，這也正是螺陽校本課程得以生根的土壤。

農耕園與蝴蝶生態園，兩大教學場域撐起一套跨領域探究課程。
Host plants, nectar plants, eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and finally wings: children follow the whole life cycle in the school's own butterfly garden, and learn what it takes to bring a species back. It is science, but it is also patience and care. 蝴蝶生態園是孩子最好的自然教室——從蜜源植物、食草，到卵、幼蟲、蛹與羽化，孩子親眼看完整個生命週期，也在復育的過程中學會耐心與守護。
Beidou is rice country. In our farming garden children sow, tend, harvest and eat what they have grown — food and farming education that turns a bowl of rice back into soil, water, weather and work. 北斗是稻米的原鄉。在農耕園裡，孩子親手播種、照顧、收成，再吃下自己種出來的食物；食農教育讓一碗飯重新變回土壤、水、天氣與勞動。
Our school-designed curriculum takes its material from the life of this place. Butterflies and rice are the way in; inquiry across subjects is the method; and the goal is a set of strengths a child carries for life — the ability to learn independently, to pull knowledge together and put it to work in the real world.

Corridors that teach, gardens that teach, walls that teach. Children take part rather than watch, and in taking part they build critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork. 會教書的走廊、會教書的園子、會教書的牆。孩子在參與中培養批判性思維、解決問題與協作的能力。
Two kinds of reading, both taught properly: the deep, slow reading of printed books, and the fast, sceptical reading a screen demands. 我們同時教兩種閱讀——紙本的細讀，以及數位時代必須具備的瀏覽、判讀與理解能力。
Soccer, basketball, violin, dance, Go, inline skating and more, alongside a full outdoor-education programme — a stage wide enough for every kind of talent. 足球、籃球、小提琴、舞蹈、圍棋、直排輪⋯⋯加上豐富的戶外教育，提供學生多元學習與多元展能的舞台。
Children make the work, and then learn to talk about it — guiding visitors, explaining what they see, carrying their love of art out into the community. 孩子先動手創作，再學著開口導覽；他們把作品說給訪客聽，也把對藝術的熱情帶進社區。
