Welcome to Lukang Elementary School. We sit in the historic township of Lukang, Changhua County, and we are home to around 900 students — one of the largest primary schools in the area. Founded in 1896, our school has kept a strong tradition of academic care while embracing the town's rich cultural heritage.
歡迎來到鹿港國小。本校位於歷史悠久的彰化縣鹿港鎮，現有約 900 名學生，是鹿港地區規模最大的國小之一。學校創立於西元 1896 年，長年秉持扎實的學術關懷，同時深植於鹿港豐富的文化傳承。
Lukang was a prosperous trading port during the Qing dynasty, when Taiwan and China traded closely across the strait. Traces of those pioneering years are everywhere — in the temples, the merchant houses, and some of the finest first- to third-grade heritage buildings preserved anywhere in Taiwan. Our children grow up inside that living museum, and our lessons are built to make the most of it.
清朝時期，臺灣與中國隔海頻繁通商，鹿港因而成為繁榮的商港。先民開疆闢地、篳路藍縷的痕跡，至今仍留在寺廟、古宅與臺灣少見的一、二、三級古蹟建築之中。鹿港的孩子在這座活的博物館裡長大，而我們的課程，正是為了善用這份得天獨厚的環境而設計。

Walk the lanes of Lukang and the lessons find you. Shiyi Building once held the graceful life of scholars gazing at the moon and playing chess; Yilou keeps a poignant love story inside its old walls; the Ding family mansion shows the bearing of a high official; and Lungshan Temple and the Tianhou Temple stand as records of history and of traditional craft. Even the school's own boundary is built from a wall of ceramic jars. These are the pages of our school-based curriculum — a set of local study tours our children come to know as well as their own backyard.
走在鹿港的街巷之間，課程自己會找上門。十宜樓曾有文人望月、吟詩、下棋的嫻雅生活；意樓的古色建築裡藏著一段淒美的愛情故事；丁家大宅展現大官的風範；龍山寺與天后宮更是清明歷史與傳統工藝發展的寫照——就連學校自己的圍牆，也是一道用陶甕堆砌的「甕牆」。這些都是校本課程的篇章，是孩子們能如數家珍的特色學習走讀。

Our school-designed curriculum treats the town's monuments, temples and merchant houses as a classroom, so that studying local history means walking to it and standing in front of it. 校訂課程把古鎮的古蹟、廟宇與街屋當成教室，讓「認識家鄉」不是課本上的一頁，而是走過去、站在它面前。
Lukang carries on the traditional arts of southern China in all their variety — carving, lantern-making, window lattice, metal vessels, thread-wrapped figures and more. That craft heritage runs through our lessons so children learn to look closely and value the maker's hand. 鹿港延續華南傳統藝術的多元樣貌——雕刻、燈飾、窗花、金屬容器、纏花……學校將這份工藝傳承融入課程，讓孩子學會細看，也學會珍惜匠人之手。
Where crowds gather, good food follows. Lukang is famous for its mud shrimp, its pastries and its traditional street snacks, and these tastes give our cultural learning a delicious extra dimension. 人潮聚集之處，美食隨之而來。鹿港以獨特的蝦猴、糕點與傳統小吃聞名，這些風味也為文化學習添上一道令人回味的滋味。
Lukang Elementary keeps both sides of the town in its character — the plain-spoken warmth of people who live by the sea, and the subtlety and courtesy of its scholarly past. Our monuments, arts and food curricula are built to pass both of those on. 鹿港國小同時保有這座小鎮的兩種氣質——海口人的質樸熱情，與文人的細膩文雅。我們的古蹟、傳統藝術與美食課程，正是為了把這兩者一起傳下去。
From a language institute in the port to a school of nine hundred.

Lukang Elementary's history goes back to 1896. Under Japanese rule, modern education arrived in Taiwan, and Lukang's first school — the Lukang National Language Institute — was set up to teach the new language. In 1898 it was reorganised as Lukang Public School, and structured six-year schooling in the town began. Over the decades the school moved, grew, and for a time added vocational and advanced courses; in 1920 it became Lukang First Public School, and a separate girls' school was later founded. After 1945, teaching moved to Mandarin and the school settled into Taiwan's six-year elementary system, adding new buildings and modern facilities as it went. Today it is known for holding together academic care and cultural heritage, folding in technology and clubs while keeping the traditional arts close.
鹿港國小的歷史可追溯至1896 年。日治時期，現代教育制度進入臺灣，鹿港的第一所學校——鹿港國語傳習所——因而設立。1898 年改制為鹿港公學校，六年制的基礎國民教育就此在鹿港展開。此後數十年間，學校歷經遷校、擴展，一度增設實業科與高等科；1920 年更名為鹿港第一公學校，後來又另設女子學校。1945 年臺灣光復後，學校改以華語授課，回歸六年制國民教育，並陸續擴建校舍、引進現代化設備。如今的鹿港國小，以兼顧學術關懷與文化傳承著稱，一邊融入科技與多元社團，一邊守著傳統藝術。
