A Lukang school where local culture becomes a doorway to the wider world.
Ludong Elementary School is located in Lukang, one of Taiwan's best-known historic towns. Founded in 1998, Ludong grew from a newly established campus into a lively learning community serving families across the Ludong, Dingcuo, Luhe and nearby neighborhoods.
The school's story is deeply connected to its place. Around Ludong are temples, traditional crafts, foodways, old houses, Nanguan music, and a living community memory. For students, Lukang is not only a hometown; it is also a rich classroom for research, language, art, and civic imagination.
Students learn from the town around them: traditional food, craft, old houses, temples, and community stories.
Reading platforms, library resources, and student research projects help children turn curiosity into deeper learning.
Campus plants, animal identification, tree maps, and outdoor spaces make nature a visible part of daily school life.
Classroom English, bilingual announcements, and video-based learning resources give students steady exposure to practical English.
Ludong students have repeatedly turned Lukang culture into international student research: cypress straw hats, turtle-shaped rice cakes, tea, old houses, Nanguan music, paper pavilions, and environmental questions have all become windows for learning in English.
