Jianxin Elementary School sits in Xinsheng Village (新生村), the eastern reach of Fangyuan Township on Changhua County's western coast. The land here was once the bed of the Zhuoshui River — all sand, swept by autumn and winter winds. In August 1952, more than fifty local people — Wu Yu-shui, Chen Jin-long, Chen Qing-xiu, Lin Chun-de and forty-six others — pooled donations and gave their own land to open Caohu Elementary's Xinsheng Branch. Nine years later, in August 1961, the branch became independent: Jianxin Elementary School was born.
建新國小位於芳苑鄉新生村，地屬彰化縣西海岸。這片土地原為濁水溪河床、全沙地，每逢秋冬風沙飛揚。民國 41 年（1952）8 月，吳雨水、陳金龍、陳清秀、林春德等五十多位地方人士募資捐地，設立草湖國校新生分班。九年後的民國 50 年（1961）8 月，分校獨立為「建新國民學校」——這就是建新國小的起點。
Today, six classrooms hold around 68 children, with a teacher-to-student ratio of 1 : 5.2. The campus stretches across generous grounds — over 200 square meters per student — leaving room for STEAM benches, Tai Chi practice mats, and the carrot beds of our food-education program. Small school. Open sky. Deep coast.
如今，全校 6 班、約 68 位孩子，師生比 1:5.2。校地寬敞，平均每位學生擁有超過 200 平方公尺的校園空間——足以放下 STEAM 工作桌、太極練習場，以及食農課程的紅蘿蔔田。一所小學校，一片開闊的天空，一段深長的海岸。
Xinsheng began as a settlement of twenty-seven households opening farmland on what was once the bed of the old Zhuoshui River — all sand dunes, swept by the coastal wind. From the 1960s, families moved the sand to make fields and grew asparagus; many Jianxin children harvested the dawn crop before shouldering their schoolbags and walking to class. That memory — of wind, sand, and early-morning work — is still part of who this school is.
新生社區最早是二十七戶人家在舊濁水溪河床上開墾出來的聚落——這裡曾是被海風吹拂的沙丘地。民國五、六十年代起，居民移砂填田、種起蘆筍；許多建新的孩子清晨先幫忙採收蘆筍，再背起書包走路上學。那段風、沙與清晨勞動的記憶，至今仍是這所學校的一部分。
Today's campus answers the same coast. The new buildings use a "single-extending-arm" (單伸手) design — long eaves and open-air corridors that turn the strong northeast monsoon and bright sun into shade and breeze, letting learning spill naturally from the classroom into the open air. At its heart stand old trees and a brick courtyard — a wind garden where light, leaf-shadow and sea breeze meet, and where the village's history and the school's daily life still grow side by side.
今天的校舍，回應的是同一片海岸。新校舍採「單伸手」建築設計——以延伸的屋簷與半戶外長廊，把強勁的東北季風與充足日照，化成樹蔭與微風，也讓學習從教室自然延伸到戶外。校園中心，是幾棵老樹與一方紅磚中庭——一座讓光影、樹蔭與海風相遇的「風庭」，地方的歷史與學校的日常，仍在這裡並肩生長。
Four signature programs carry every Jianxin child through six years — one for the page, one for the lab bench, one for the field, one for the body.

Few rural schools with only six classes reach the national science-fair podium. Jianxin has done it two editions in a row — placing in biology at the 64th National Science Fair and taking third place in chemistry at the 66th. Add a county-level sweep in Tai Chi — first and second place in the 13-Form, plus medals in Push-Hands — and Cool English Speaking Kings every year, and the pattern is clear: at Jianxin, the size of the school does not limit the size of the work. 很少有 6 班規模的偏鄉小校能站上全國科展的領獎台——建新做到了兩屆，第 64 屆生物科佳作、第 66 屆化學科第三名。再加上太極拳教育盃 13 式第一、二名、推手錦標賽佳績、Cool English 口說王 14 位獲獎——建新用行動證明：學校的「規模小」，並不限制孩子「表現的尺寸」。
Principal Lin Chia-hui joined Jianxin in August 2025 — the first phase of Changhua County's 114th-year principal selection. She brings four years of principal experience from Chang'an Elementary School, where she led an internationally-minded campus committed to rural-school innovation.
林家惠校長於 2025 年 8 月（民國 114 學年度第一階段遴選）就任建新國小校長。她自 彰化縣長安國小調任而來——在前一所學校的四年任期內，她以「偏鄉小校 × 國際視野」的辦學路線而為同業所知。
As Jianxin enters its seventh decade, Principal Lin is shaping a campus that holds two compass points in balance: roots in Xinsheng — sand, sea, carrot, sea ox, Tai Chi — and reach into the wider world — STEAM, bilingual reading, Cool English, the global classroom. This bilingual website is part of that reach.
