A century of learning on the jasmine fields of Huatan 百年扎根，茉莉花壇上的學習殿堂
Founded in 1913 (Year 2 of the Republic of China), Huatan Elementary School has educated generations of children in Huatan Township, the heart of Changhua's jasmine-growing country. Today, more than 1,200 students from Huatan, Changsha, and Qiaotou villages walk through our gates, learning in classrooms designed in the spirit of Huatan's red-brick kiln heritage.
In 2024, the school completed a NT$150 million renovation that gave us a new student activity center, athletic track, and basketball courts — all designed with natural ventilation to honor the green-building tradition.
花壇國民小學創立於民國 2 年（西元 1913 年），是花壇鄉百年公立小學，學區涵蓋花壇村、長沙村與橋頭村。目前在學學生逾 1,200 人、教職員 89 位，是彰化縣中型偏大的代表性學校。
2024 年，新建學生活動中心、跑道與籃球場全面落成，總投入 1.5 億元。新校舍以「磚窯」為設計意象，向花壇早期紅磚產業致敬，並融合自然通風的綠建築理念，榮獲國家建設卓越獎金質獎、彰化縣公共工程優質獎。
Huatan Township is Taiwan's jasmine capital. Walking the lanes around our school, the sweet scent of blooming jasmine drifts in from the fields each summer. Our second-graders explore this heritage every spring at the Jasmine Dream Museum, learning where their town's name comes from and how a small white flower became a story of place.
花壇鄉是台灣茉莉花的故鄉。每到夏天，校園周邊田間飄散著茉莉花香。我們的二年級學生會走進「茉莉花壇夢想館」進行社區踏查，認識家鄉地名的由來，了解一朵小白花如何成為一個地方的記憶與驕傲。
Long before Huatan grew jasmine, it was famous for red-brick kilns. Our 2024 student activity center honors that history: its facade evokes the rhythm of stacked bricks, while inside, natural ventilation and convection meet today's green-building standards. 花壇早年以紅磚窯聞名。2024 年落成的學生活動中心以磚窯堆疊的意象為設計主軸，向地方產業歷史致敬；建築內部採自然通風與對流，達到當代綠建築標準。傳統與現代學習，在同一座校園裡並肩存在。
We sit close to the Changhua Fault. Most kids hear about the Chelungpu Fault first, but for us, geology lessons are local. Working with the National Museum of Natural Science, our students learn what to put in an emergency kit, how plate tectonics shape Taiwan, and how preparation makes communities resilient.
花壇緊鄰彰化斷層。多數學生先聽說的是車籠埔斷層，但對我們而言，地質課就是在地的故事。我們與國立自然科學博物館合作，引導學生認識防災包該裝什麼、板塊運動如何形塑台灣、以及為何「準備」是社區韌性的開始。

Twelve classes spent three weeks at the historic Cheng Hsing-chen bakery, shaping rice-flour cakes shaped like phoenix eyes — gifts for moms, made by their own children's hands. Tradition, language, and tenderness, all in one lesson.
連續三週、12 個班級走進百年老店「鄭興珍餅舖」，由孩子親手製作鳳眼糕送給媽咪。傳統、語文、與孩子的心意——一堂課中全都有。
When the great Mazu pilgrimage passes through Huatan, our entire school turns out — rain or shine. Students, teachers, and the principal greet the goddess together, joining a centuries-old tradition that ties our township to the rest of Taiwan.
每年大甲媽祖遶境經過花壇，全體師生風雨無阻地迎接媽祖。從聖惠宮到白沙坑文德宮，校園與社區百年的信仰連結，由孩子親身參與。
From taiko drumming and diabolo to inline skating, karate, basketball, and our championship orchestra, our students compete and perform across the county. The school's annual Star Cup gives every child a stage of their own.
從太鼓、扯鈴、直排輪、空手道、籃球，到屢獲音樂比賽優等的管弦樂團——花壇國小有 20 多個社團。每年校內的「星光盃」更為每位孩子保留一個發光發熱的舞台。
Each year, our 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-graders volunteer to tutor first-graders in zhuyin (Mandarin phonetics). It's a quiet tradition that builds both literacy and a sense of belonging — the school as one extended family.
每學年，由四、五、六年級學生擔任注音符號補救教學志工，陪伴一年級弟弟妹妹。在這個延續多年的傳統裡，孩子既學會幫助他人，也讓校園成為一個更大的家。
