In after-school care time, students carry on the art of lion dance. Besides building strength and learning to move together after class, they are often invited to perform at the school anniversary and in temple processions in the community. Lion dance depends on complete trust and harmony between the head and the tail of the lion. In the noise and crowds of a procession or festival, students push through tiredness and distractions, showing real professionalism and teamwork — and getting a close-up feel for local folk traditions and a sense of responsibility for passing on their culture.
