Dr. Metrology Visits Dingfan

Back from the long weekend! Guess what fun things happened at school today? When you hear about the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI), do you picture a rigid, serious government agency?

Today, "Dr. Metrology," Mr. Gao, and Mr. Tseng completely broke that stereotype! They visited our school with fun board games and hands-on teaching tools, guiding our middle and upper graders through exciting challenges.

During the event, the instructors shared how down-to-earth their work actually is — right before peak shopping seasons like Tomb Sweeping Day, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and Lunar New Year, they personally visit traditional markets to check the accuracy of vendors' scales, helping protect everyone's wallets. These vivid examples instantly helped the kids realize that weights and measures are all around us!

Through hands-on activities, the kids learned happily and remembered it well — and what a coincidence, our middle graders had just covered a related math unit, with a quiz the very next day! They got to review while playing board games, absorbing the key points straight into their brains.

Every participating student went home with a small gift, and BSMI staff praised our students for their excellent classroom discipline and sharp responses. Thank you for such a wonderful and practical event!
