A Day of Cultural Exchange

On December 17th, Dashin Elementary welcomed a distinguished guest through the coordination of My Culture Connect. The school hosted Dom Jones, winner of the UN National Executive Council's 2024 Young Leader of America Award, for a day dedicated to cultural exchange and mutual inspiration.

12月17日，在人師（My Culture Connect）的居中協調下，大新國小迎接了一位貴賓——聯合國全國行政委員會2024年「美國青年領袖獎」得主 Dom Jones，展開為期一天的文化交流與相互啟發。

The visit began with a thunderous welcome as students greeted Dom with a powerful drum performance that showcased their incredible discipline and energy. This was followed by a creative reading-aloud presentation where students introduced the guest to the various forms of transportation in Taiwan. In a touching moment of connection, the school's American teacher presented Dom with a special commemorative poster signed by the students. Dom in turn offered the children words of encouragement, urging them to study hard and never give up on their dreams.

來訪從一場震撼的歡迎揭開序幕——學生以充滿紀律與活力的戰鼓表演迎接 Dom。接著是一段別出心裁的英語朗讀展演，學生向來賓介紹台灣各式各樣的交通工具。在一個令人動容的時刻，學校的美籍老師致贈 Dom 一張由全校學生簽名的特別紀念海報；Dom 也回贈孩子們鼓勵的話語，勉勵他們用功讀書、永遠不要放棄夢想。

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the educators. Dom hosted an intimate workshop for the Dashin faculty, praising teaching as sacred work and engaging in an honest discussion about the challenges modern educators face. The teachers left the session feeling deeply validated and inspired. The day concluded with a visit to the home of a local student whose parents are both accomplished artists — an artist-to-artist dialogue, before a warm farewell to the Dashin community.

下午的重心轉向老師。Dom 為大新的教師團隊主持了一場小型工作坊，稱教學是神聖的工作，並與老師們坦誠討論現代教育者面臨的挑戰，讓在場老師深感被理解與鼓舞。這一天最後以拜訪一位在地學生的家庭作結——這個家庭的父母都是卓然有成的藝術家，雙方展開了一場藝術家之間的對話，最後溫暖地向大新社群道別。
