Our thanks to the county government, whose anti-drug education truck visited the school and gave our fifth-graders a genuinely eye-opening session. The programme had three parts. Films: real cases and animation made the true face of illegal drugs immediately clear. Lifelike models: replica samples showed how new synthetic drugs are disguised as snacks and drinks, so children learn to look twice at anything handed to them. Interactive games: playing along, students practised the actual skill of saying no. Thank you to the county for the careful planning and to the volunteer instructors who ran it. Together — school, teachers and families — we are weaving a protective net around our children, and teaching them to say “no” with confidence.

感謝縣府的反毒教育行動車來到學校，為五年級的孩子們帶來一場超精彩、超震撼的反毒宣導活動！這次的內容非常豐富——吸睛影片觀賞：用真實案例與動畫，讓學生秒懂毒品的真面目；擬真模型解說：透過仿真模型，揭開新興毒品偽裝成零食、飲料的糖衣，建立敏銳的防範心；趣味互動遊戲：在邊玩邊學的互動中，加深「拒絕毒品」的技巧與正確觀念。再次感謝縣府的用心規劃與志工老師們的推廣，讓我們親師生攜手，共同織起緊密的校園防護網，陪伴孩子們健康成長，一起向毒品說「不」！

Beidou put in a remarkable showing at the Changhua County Language Arts Contest semi-finals. After long stretches of practice and a composed performance on the day, our students and teachers came home with honours: fourth place in Mandarin reading aloud and fourth place in composition, both won by sixth-graders, and third place in the teachers' composition division, won by one of our first-grade homeroom teachers — a teacher competing alongside her students sets the best example there is. Behind every result of this kind lie a great many hours of effort and persistence. Our thanks to the teachers for their patient, thorough coaching, and to the families whose steady support made it possible. Beidou is proud of you all.

Congratulations to our students, who earned the Reading Champion award at this year's Cool English reading contest! Reading in a second language takes patience — working through unfamiliar words, holding on to the thread of a story, and coming back the next day to read a little more. These certificates represent many quiet hours of exactly that. Well done, and keep turning the pages.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, the Beidou Elementary Parents' Association wishes to thank the school's volunteers for their quiet, generous work throughout the year, and for watching over our children day after day. As a token of that thanks, each volunteer received a bottle of locally pressed Beidou fragrant oil — a small gift with a fitting message, since our volunteers nourish this campus much as that oil enriches a dish: steadily, without fuss, and always for someone else's benefit. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to every one of you and your families.

With support from the Ministry of Agriculture, a touring children's theatre company, 如果兒童劇團, brought a stage play to our school today: The Stray Diary of Big Black Cat and Aqi. It was both an introduction to animal protection and a lesson in life education — the idea that caring for an animal is a responsibility you take on, not a mood you are in. The performers drew the children straight into the story, and the whole school sat rapt from beginning to end. Animal protection: let's all take part!

今日 9/22，本校獲「農業部」補助，邀請「如果兒童劇團」到校進行舞台劇演出——《黑貓老大與阿奇的流浪日記》。這是一場「動保精神」的議題推廣，也是一場「生命教育」的責任傳遞：照顧一隻動物，是一份扛起來就不能放下的責任，而不是一時的心情。劇團的大哥哥、大姊姊帶來精采的表演，學童們聚精會神地觀看、興趣滿滿，全場從頭到尾目不轉睛。動物保護，大家一起來喔！

Thank you to every parent who set aside a busy evening to walk into our classrooms and make this Parent-Teacher Conference such a warm and supportive occasion. Education is the most beautiful kind of meeting: watching teachers and families trade ideas, listen to one another and share their hopes for each child, we saw focused eyes and knowing smiles in every room — the strongest backing a child can have on the road ahead. It is because of your trust in the school and its teachers that learning at Beidou can be so rich and varied. The conference has closed, but the journey of home and school walking together is only beginning. Today the Changhua County Water Resources Office came to campus for a soil and water conservation outreach session. Alongside a lively introduction to the ideas behind protecting soil and water, the visiting team brought their hands-on disaster-prevention teaching kit: an escape-room style challenge in which students solved puzzles station by station. Working through the clues together, the children picked up the basics of soil and water conservation and learned how to respond when a disaster strikes.

今天學校邀請彰化縣水利資源處到校進行水土保持校園宣導。水保科同仁除了講解豐富的水土保持知識與觀念，更帶來〈水保防災行動教具〉，透過「密室解謎」的闖關體驗，讓學童在一關關解謎的過程中，學到水土保持的概念與防災應變策略。

Today was the big day when our adorable new first graders started school, and we owe a special thank-you to the wonderful Beidou Elementary volunteer team. Early in the morning the volunteers split into two groups: some stood at the school gate to greet the little ones, their friendly voices calming nervous hearts, while others went into the classrooms to give the homeroom teachers a helping hand. Then everyone pulled together to run the stations of the welcome activity, guiding each new student through the challenges. Because of your warm smiles and patient company, the children shed their first-day jitters and took a confident first step into learning. Thank you, Beidou volunteers, for giving so generously — it is wonderful to have you. Our volunteer team is simply the best!

Today’s orientation meeting for first-grade parents came to a happy close. Thank you to all the mums and dads who made time to join us — seeing so much care and hope for your children filled us with warmth. Moving up from kindergarten to primary school is a big milestone. New routines, looking after themselves, a different pace of learning: a little nervousness is only natural. Please take it easy, and give your child time to settle in, along with plenty of warm encouragement. Education is a relay race of love and trust. In the days ahead, let us work together as parents and teachers, keep the conversation open, and be the steady support our little ones need as they explore with joy and grow with confidence.

The long-awaited Summer Fun Learning program opened today! For the next two full weeks, a rich and playful curriculum will keep our children busy, curious and happy. The very first morning was already buzzing: students listened intently as teachers introduced the “Tell Everyone Who I Am” self-introduction activity, then rolled up their sleeves for hands-on tangram puzzles — every child showing wonderful focus and sparks of creativity. A few friendly reminders: come to school on time, because a brand-new experience waits each day; bring a water bottle and drink plenty of water in this hot weather. See you on campus at Beidou Elementary!

大家期待已久的「夏日樂學」今天正式登場！接下來的整整兩個星期，學校安排了超豐富又有趣的課程，要陪孩子們度過一個充實又快樂的暑假。今天一開始現場就熱鬧非凡：小朋友們聚精會神地聽老師解說「告訴大家我是誰」自我介紹，接著動手玩七巧板益智拼貼，每個人都展現滿滿的專注力與創意亮點！也貼心提醒大家——每天都有不一樣的新體驗，記得準時到校；天氣炎熱，請小朋友隨身攜帶水壺，多多補充水分。地點：彰化縣北斗鎮北斗國民小學。

Thank you to every child who came to the tryout for the Beidou Elementary pickleball team, and to the parents who stayed to cheer them on. We saw nervous, hopeful faces: some children swung that very first shot with trembling hands, others practised again and again, working up a sweat as they pushed past their own limits. The strokes were not always polished and the paddle did not always cooperate — but every picture of a child trying hard was genuinely moving, because what we were looking at was never just “can you play”; it was the courage to try, the willingness to work, and the readiness to take on a challenge. Because of limits on courts, equipment and coaching staff, this year’s team will take 18 players. To those not selected: please don’t be discouraged. One tryout cannot measure your effort or your potential — stepping onto the court, picking up the paddle and challenging yourself is already something wonderful. There will be another tryout next year, and we look forward to seeing you back on court with even more confidence. “Bravely swinging that first shot is the most beautiful beginning of growth.”

感謝今天每一位來參加 115 學年度北斗國小匹克球隊甄選的小朋友，也謝謝一路陪伴、到場為孩子加油打氣的家長們！今天的甄選過程中，我們看見孩子們緊張又期待的模樣：有些小朋友戰戰兢兢地揮出第一拍，有些孩子一次又一次地練習，在球場上揮汗如雨、努力突破自己。也許動作還不夠熟練、球拍還有些不聽話，但那一幕幕認真練習的畫面，真的令人感動——因為我們看見的，不只是「會不會打球」，而是孩子願意勇敢嘗試、願意努力、願意接受挑戰的態度。今年因場地、器材及師資等條件有限，經整體考量後，115 學年度匹克球隊將錄取 18 名隊員。沒有錄取的小朋友請不要氣餒！一次甄選的結果，並不能決定你的努力與潛力；今天你踏上球場、拿起球拍、勇敢挑戰自己，就已經是一件很棒的事情。明年學校還會辦理甄選，期待帶著更多自信與進步的你，再一次回到球場挑戰自己——「勇敢揮出第一拍，就是成長最美好的開始！」

Time flies — after several weeks, the College Youth Summer Work Camp reached its final day. Looking back, the campus was filled with energy and laughter every single day, because these warm-hearted college “big brothers and sisters” gave our Beidou children a summer that was full and unforgettable. Study met play: the students turned dry school subjects into board games and digital activities, so children absorbed new knowledge while having fun. Sweat met sunshine: everyone stretched, moved and built team spirit outdoors, and every smiling face spoke of healthy growth. And above all there was companionship: whether answering a question about homework or simply listening during a break, the volunteers were endlessly patient and kind, becoming the friends our children admired and trusted most. On behalf of all the students, staff and families of Beidou Elementary, thank you for giving our children a summer of laughter and learning. We wish you every success on the road ahead.

Our most popular foreign teacher, Ms. Anna, wrapped up a joyful six-day English Summer Camp last Friday. For six days the campus was filled with children's laughter and confident English conversation. Rather than memorizing vocabulary at their desks, students learned English through hands-on, cross-curricular activities: they became little scientists — shaping clay volcanoes and following a chemical "eruption" entirely in English — and even made Pastillas de Leche, a traditional Filipino milk candy, mixing and kneading along to English steps on the screen. Thank you, Ms. Anna, and every enthusiastic camper — keep this curiosity and love of English alive!

上週五，本校最受歡迎的外師 Anna 老師帶領的「六天英語夏令營」圓滿落幕！這六天裡，校園總是充滿孩子們的歡笑聲與自信的英文對話。Anna 老師精心設計了跨領域素養課程，把語言學習融入動手做的體驗：孩子們化身小小科學家，用黏土捏出火山模型，並用全英文理解化學反應；還挑戰製作菲律賓傳統甜點 Pastillas de Leche（牛奶糖），一邊看著投影幕上的英文步驟，一邊親手揉出甜蜜的滋味。謝謝 Anna 老師的用心，也謝謝每一位熱情參與的孩子——在英文學習的路上，繼續保持這份好奇心與熱情！

The much-anticipated College Youth Summer Camp opened last week! It was heart-warming to hear the campus fill with children's laughter once again. These energetic college "big brothers and sisters" brought a burst of youthful energy to our summer campus, designing a rich program that balanced sports and study — so every child's summer is time well spent, looking forward to school each day.

期待已久的「大專青年學生暑期校園工讀營隊」上週登場！看著校園再度充滿孩子們的歡笑聲，心情也跟著亮了起來。這群充滿活力與熱情的大哥哥、大姊姊們，為夏日校園注入滿滿的青春能量，也為北斗國小的孩子們設計了充實又文武雙全的暑期營隊，讓大家的暑假不留白，天天都期待來學校上課！

Summer break had only just begun, but Beidou's teachers were already hard at work! On the school-wide preparation day on July 1, teachers gathered to share the school-based curriculum themes and professional-community achievements they had designed for each grade — getting ready for a great new school year.

暑假才剛開始，北斗國小的老師們可沒有停下腳步！在 7 月 1 日的全校備課日，老師們齊聚一堂，熱情分享各年級精心設計的「校本課程主題與社群成果」，為新學年的教學做好準備。

Under the theme "Brave Adventures, a Youth Without Regrets," Beidou Elementary and its affiliated kindergarten held a warm and joyful graduation ceremony. From the presentation of diplomas and scholarships to blessings from younger students, heartfelt speeches, and the singing of the school song, every moment was moving — and the string, dance, and music performances showed the confidence and many talents of Beidou's children. Thank you to county officials, the local community, the Parents' Association, and every family who attended. May our graduates move forward with gratitude, chase their dreams bravely, and soar on the journey ahead.

北斗國民小學暨附設幼兒園「勇敢冒險 青春不留白」畢業典禮，在溫馨與歡樂中圓滿落幕。從頒發畢業證書、各項獎學金，到在校生祝福、畢業生感恩致詞與校歌傳唱，每個環節都充滿感動；穿插的弦樂、舞蹈與音樂表演，更展現北斗孩子多元學習的成果與自信風采。感謝縣府長官、地方各界、家長會與所有到場的家長——願孩子們懷抱感恩、勇敢逐夢，在未來的旅程中展翅高飛。

Our heartfelt thanks to alumnus Mr. Yang Feng-lu for his generous donation, which helped the school add multimedia equipment and books to the library's presentation space. Beyond reading, storytelling, and multimedia teaching, the space now doubles as an indoor venue for P.E., movement, and group activities on rainy days — and, with a large display, for video lessons, online talks, and digital learning. One act of kindness has not only enriched our reading environment but given our children a more complete and flexible space to learn. Thank you, Mr. Yang, for your care and support for your alma mater.

Congratulations to our outstanding student athletes! Competitors in wrestling, taekwondo, karate, inline skating, tennis, badminton and track and field were invited to the Beidou Township Office, where the mayor publicly commended them and presented awards in recognition of their achievements. Behind every medal and every personal best lie long hours of demanding training, together with the steady support of coaches, teachers and families. This recognition belongs not only to the athletes themselves but to the whole Beidou community. Watching these children show such persistence and courage in testing themselves is a source of real pride — may they keep striving, and may the spirit of sport at Beidou keep growing.

Congratulations to our sixth-grade team, whose outstanding performance won First Place in the county at the Changhua Traffic-Safety Radio Drama competition! After weeks of practice, the children used lively voices and wonderful teamwork to turn road-safety knowledge into a fun radio story — revealing the hidden dangers of a large vehicle's blind spots and turning path. Thank you to their teacher for the dedication, and cheers to our little "radio stars"! Their recording later aired on Kuo Sheng Radio, inviting everyone to learn traffic safety and get home safe.

恭喜本校六年級團隊參加「彰化縣交通安全教育廣播劇」比賽，以出色的表現榮獲全縣冠軍！孩子們在準備期間反覆練習，用生動的聲音表情與絕佳默契，把交通安全知識化為精彩有趣的廣播故事，破解大型車「內輪差」與「視野死角」的隱形危機。感謝老師的用心付出，也讓我們一起為這群「廣播小達人」按讚喝采！錄音作品後續也在國聲廣播電台播出，邀請大家一起開心學交安、出門保平安。

With a loud gong, Beidou Elementary opened its second-hand charity fair. Students ran booths filled with toys, school supplies, and daily items — and a special highlight was the English-speaking booths run by foreign teachers, where every transaction was in English. The proceeds were donated to World Vision, and the Parent Association sold gift boxes to support students in need.

隨著一聲響亮的鑼聲，北斗國小的二手愛心義賣市集熱鬧開幕。學生經營著擺滿玩具、文具與日常用品的攤位，特別亮點是外師負責的英語攤位，所有交易都以英語完成。義賣所得捐給世界展望會，家長會也販售禮盒為弱勢學生籌款。

Beidou Elementary earned Silver Certification in the Taiwan-American Eco-School Initiative in 2024, recognizing its work in sustainable food, waste reduction, and hands-on environmental education — a model for other schools to follow.

北斗國小於 2024 年獲得臺美生態學校銀牌認證，表彰學校在永續食物、廢棄物減量與實作環境教育上的努力，成為其他學校學習的典範。

A food-and-agriculture education team from Pingtung visited Beidou Elementary to exchange ideas on farm-to-table learning — sharing how schools can connect students with where their food comes from.

Beidou Elementary celebrated Christmas Eve during the big recess with a joyful flash mob prepared by the students. Santa Claus — played by members of the Parent Association — and little Santa helpers handed out chocolate treats, bringing laughter and warmth to the whole school.

北斗國小在大下課時間以學生精心準備的快閃表演歡慶平安夜。由家長會扮演的聖誕老人與小聖誕幫手們發送巧克力，為全校帶來歡笑與溫暖。

Beidou students took part in the National Student Picture-Book Creation Award, telling their own stories through words and illustrations — a celebration of creativity, reading, and bilingual storytelling.
