Welcome to Beidou Junior High School, a public junior high in the heart of Beidou Township, Changhua County. Founded on April 25, 1946, our campus spans 5.6 hectares and is home to 608 students and 60 teachers. We are guided by our GTRS philosophy — Gratitude, Technology, Reading, Sports — in every subject, every season.

北斗國中創立於民國 35 年 4 月 25 日，校地面積 5.6 公頃，現有學生 608 人、教師 60 位。以「感恩、科技、閱讀、運動」（GTRS）為辦學核心——這四個信念，貫穿每一堂課、每一場活動。

We are best known as Changhua's food-agriculture education flagship: our campus hosts a smart farm, a rainwater collection system, and 2,083 solar panels across seven buildings — the largest solar installation of any school in Changhua County. Our domed astronomical observatory, opened in 2020, gives every student the chance to look through a 13-cm refractor telescope and see their place in the universe.

北斗國中是彰化縣食農教育旗艦學校，設有智慧農場與雨水集水系統；7 棟校舍共 2,083 片太陽能板，為全縣容量最大的太陽能校園；2020 年啟用的圓頂天文台，讓每位學生都能透過 13 公分折射式望遠鏡，親眼望見宇宙的角落。

Our smart farm grows more than vegetables — it grows students who understand where food comes from, why seasons matter, and how agriculture connects to identity. "Eat local, eat seasonal" is not a slogan; it is a skill.

Astronomical Observatory
圓頂天文台 · 仰望宇宙
Our domed observatory, opened on 19 May 2020, houses a 13-cm refractor telescope. Students observe the moon, planets, and stars — connecting their small town in Changhua to the vastness of the universe.
2020 年 5 月 19 日啟用的圓頂天文台，配備直徑 13 公分折射式望遠鏡。學生在這裡觀察月球、行星與恆星，感受彰化這片土地與宇宙的連結。

太陽能校園 · 全縣最大容量
2,083 solar panels across 7 school buildings — the largest solar installation of any school in Changhua County. Paired with a rainwater collection system and smart-energy monitoring, our campus is a living lesson in sustainable living.

Beidou Zhengzhong Hall
北斗中正堂 · 縣定歷史建築
Completed in 1960, the Zhengzhong Hall was registered as a Changhua County historical building in April 2008. In 2014, our students won a global platinum award at the International Schools CyberFair using this landmark as their research subject.
1960 年落成的中正堂，2008 年 4 月登錄為彰化縣歷史建築。2014 年，北中學生以此為研究主題，榮獲「國際網界博覽會白金獎」——在地歷史，走上國際舞台。

With foreign English teacher Teacher Aileen Sim from the Philippines, our bilingual programme brings English into the farm, the lab, and the observatory. Courses cover school farms, air-pollution monitoring, fossils, and more — real places, real vocabulary.

Teacher Aileen is our resident Foreign English Teacher, working alongside Taiwanese homeroom teachers to bring English into the farm, the lab, and the observatory. Her bilingual lessons turn Beidou's real campus — food-agriculture plots, air-pollution monitors, fossils — into living English classrooms where students learn real vocabulary in real places.

Aileen 老師是北斗國中駐校的外籍英語教師，與本國教師協同教學，讓英語走進農場、實驗室與天文台。她的雙語課程把北中的真實校園——食農田區、空汙觀測站、化石標本——變成活生生的英語教室，學生在真實場景裡學真實的英語。

Our Story

校史時間軸 · 從北斗初中到永續能源校園
1946
Founded: Taizhong County Beidou Junior High School
民國 35 年 4 月 25 日，創校為「臺中縣立北斗初級中學」。校址前身為日治時期北斗尋常小學校與北斗農業實踐女學校。
1950
Expanded to complete high school; later renamed Changhua County Beidou Middle School
改制為完全中學，後配合行政區劃調整，改稱「彰化縣立北斗中學」。
1960
Beidou Zhengzhong Hall completed
北斗中正堂落成，成為校園重要地標。
1968
Renamed Beidou Junior High School with the launch of 9-year compulsory education
民國 57 年配合九年國教政策，改制為「彰化縣立北斗國民中學」，沿用至今。
2008
Zhengzhong Hall registered as Changhua County Historical Building
民國 97 年 4 月 11 日，北斗中正堂正式登錄為彰化縣定歷史建築。
2014
International Schools CyberFair — Platinum Award
學生以北斗中正堂為研究主題，榮獲「國際網界博覽會白金獎」，北斗的歷史走上國際舞台。
2020
Domed Observatory opens · Solar Energy Gold Award
民國 109 年 5 月 19 日，圓頂天文台正式啟用；同年獲得能源教育標竿金獎（中區）。
2023
Three students score perfect 45 on National Assessment — first time in 20 years
3 名學生（曾宥誠、楊丞閎、張蒝畯）在國中教育會考中獲得滿級分（45 分），睽違 20 年首度達成。
2025
Principal Wu Bing-lien takes office · Bilingual programme expands
民國 114 年 8 月，吳炳連校長接任；北中雙語教育持續深化，外籍教師 Aileen Sim 駐校推動英語融入各科課程。
