Where nature soars, and learning takes flight.
Wunde sits at "半線" of the sunrise — perched atop Bagua Mountain, it is the highest-elevation school in Changhua County. Grey-faced buzzard hawks trace wide arcs overhead, purple crow butterflies drift through the low garden shrubs, and beneath the shade of silver trumpet trees, a few dogs doze in the warm sun while cyclists pass by on quiet mountain roads.
The surrounding hillside community lives simply, largely by farming — growing pineapples and plums — and greets visitors with easy warmth. Nearby, the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail, Fengshan Temple, the Mother-and-Child Camphor Trees, and Monkey Exploration Well draw hikers year-round, while the campus itself stays lush and fragrant in every season, its grounds carefully tended by staff who treat ecology and English education as shared priorities.
In the Maker Workshop, students learn woodworking, laser cutting, and handcraft under expert guidance — turning an ordinary block of wood into something made with care by their own hands. Ecology lessons bring students face to face with the wild neighbours who share the campus: the hawks overhead and the free-roaming companion dogs who call Wunde home.
English is treated as a bridge to the wider world here, brought to life through interactive dialogue, simulated international scenarios, and everyday cross-cultural practice. Music and dance fill every corner of campus too — from jazz drums and ocarina to ukulele — giving students a rhythm-filled outlet to find and express themselves.
Welcome to Wunde Elementary School ·
Nearly every corner of Wunde's hillside campus opens onto shade trees, garden paths, and wide open sky — a setting built as much for wandering and watching hawks glide as for sitting in class.
Ecology, craft, reading, and play — four ways Wunde students grow.

Quiet boardwalks thread through the hillside greenery, where students learn to observe and respect the wild neighbours who share their mountain campus.

From the school's rooftop lookout — the highest point of any campus in the county — students can watch hawks trace slow circles against the sky.

An open-air reading pavilion, its mosaic mural reading "Wunde's heart, Dazhu's spirit," invites students to slow down with a book among the trees.

Slides, climbing frames, and open lawns give every student room to play hard between lessons — because for Principal Hsieh, play is a child's natural talent.
