SingHua’s Class 6A took part in an art course called “Cutting Light into Autumn” (把光剪進秋天裡). Over four Monday afternoons, students began with the art of paper cutting and went on to learn about traditional crafts that use persimmon juice and tung-oil umbrellas. Through step-by-step, hands-on work, the children grew their sense of beauty as they focused on creating, and felt the charm of traditional skills and the art of everyday life.
二林鎮興華國小六年甲班辦理「把光剪進秋天裡」藝術創作課程，利用四個週一的午後時光，帶領學生從剪紙藝術出發，進一步認識柿汁與桐油傘所蘊含的傳統工藝文化。透過循序漸進的手作體驗，讓孩子在專注創作中培養美感，感受傳統技藝與生活藝術的魅力。
In the first two weeks, students folded paper and cut it with great care to create window-flower designs (窗花), practicing patience and focus as they worked. In the third week, they learned about persimmon juice and tung-oil umbrellas — what makes these crafts special and what they mean in our culture. In the final week, students pasted their paper cuttings onto umbrellas. When sunlight shone through the cut-out patterns, it cast delicate, lovely shadows — and a work of art joining paper cutting with a traditional craft was complete.
課程前兩週，學生透過紙張對摺與細緻剪裁，逐步完成各式窗花圖案，在創作過程中練習耐心與專注；第三週則結合柿汁與桐油傘的傳統元素，引領孩子認識工藝特色與文化意涵。最後一週，學生將親手剪製的窗花貼上傘面，當陽光穿透鏤空紋理，映照出細膩迷人的光影，一把融合剪紙藝術與傳統工藝的作品就此完成。
The course let students enjoy making things by hand, and by combining paper cutting with umbrella craft, it guided them to notice light and shadow, lines and materials — and to discover how art can be part of everyday life. Every finished umbrella shows a child’s creativity, and carries their new understanding and appreciation of traditional culture.
這次課程不僅讓學生體驗手作的樂趣，更透過剪紙與傘藝的結合，引導孩子觀察光影、線條與材質的變化，發現藝術融入生活的無限可能。每一把完成的傘，都是孩子創意與巧思的展現，也承載著對傳統文化的認識與欣賞。

Through our “Finding Beauty Together” (藝起來尋美) program, SingHua will keep weaving art into daily life — helping children explore beauty by creating and get to know culture through experience, so that the beauty of traditional crafts and the poetry of everyday life stay with them, like the autumn breeze.
