Right at the start of summer vacation, teachers Wang Chiung-hsia and Lin Ruo-ying led students on a visit to the National Palace Museum Southern Branch in Chiayi. Between the beautifully landscaped grounds, the rich collections, and blissfully cool air conditioning, it was about as good as summer vacation gets.

In every special exhibit, students borrowed audio guides and listened closely, taking in five thousand years of Chinese cultural history and artistic beauty.

They studied the collection up close — from delicate jade carvings to porcelain from imperial courts — turning a restless summer afternoon into something quieter and more thoughtful.

Thanks to a Changhua County Government cultural field-trip grant, Fusing students got to experience history, culture, and art all in one place — including a special exhibit on Chinese calligraphy.
