On the morning of October 7, the 2026 Guashanli Art Festival came to Fusing. Artist Yeh Yu-chun (葉育君) and Japanese artist Yuzuru Maeda visited our school to lead students in Zentai — a kind of performance art in which performers wear stretchy bodysuits that cover them from head to toe, face included.

The workshop began with everyone sitting on the floor, listening as the two artists explained what was about to happen. Then came the first challenge: putting on the suits.

At first, some students said the tight bodysuits felt a little hot. But once the music started and they began to move freely to its rhythm, something changed. Little by little, they relaxed and let go of their worries about how they looked — until they seemed to forget their bodies altogether, lost in a free-flowing conversation with themselves.

The students' verdict? "This activity was really great." They may not have fully realized they were taking part in a performance art piece, but they truly felt what it means to be brave.
In the second period, homeroom teacher Hsiao Ching-chi (蕭景琪) took the lead. Students listened for each instruction and responded as one, setting off a second wave of excitement.

This blend of athletic movement and performance art amazed Yuzuru Maeda. She said that what she learned that day went far beyond what she had expected — a beautiful experience unlike any she had had before.

This year marks the seventh Guashanli Art Festival, with its main events running from October 9 to 11.
