Where the fields once decided who went to school
Before 1924, children in this corner of Pitou Township had to walk all the way to Xizhou or Pitou proper just to attend class — and the community longed for a school of its own. In April 1924, the wish came true: local benefactor Huang Ching-lien donated the land, villager Liu Shui-shu and seven neighbours lent more, and a branch classroom of Pitou Public School opened under its first teacher, Su Cu-pi. The school became fully independent in 1930.
Today the campus still sits where it began — at the southern edge of Pitou Township, ringed by rice paddies, bordering Beidou to the east and Xizhou to the south. Most students come from farming families, known for their kindness and diligence. The world has changed around it, but Fuchao's roots in the fields have not.
民國十三年（1924）以前，這一帶的孩子得長途跋涉到溪洲或埤頭才能上學，地方建校的心願日益殷切。1924 年 4 月，願望終於實現：地方仕紳黃清廉先生慷慨捐地，芙朝村劉水樹先生等八位鄉親也出借土地，埤頭公學校牛稠子分教場於焉成立，首任教師是蘇粗皮先生。1930 年，學校正式獨立設校。
如今校園仍座落於當年的起點——埤頭鄉南邊，四周稻田環繞，東鄰北斗鎮、南接溪州鄉。學生多為農家子弟，秉性善良勤樸。時代不斷向前，芙朝紮根稻田的初心，始終未曾改變。
