Since 2017
When Principal Tsai Chung-ke stepped through Da-An's gate in August 2017, he became the twelfth person to do so since the school's founding in 1953. He arrived not at a city school with hundreds of students, but at a small community school of 52 children — tucked between the rice paddies of Tianzhong's San-an and Da-lun villages, an hour's drive from Changhua City.
Tianzhong is often called the granary of Changhua, and Da-An sits right in the middle of it: a tiny school in a farming community, serving two villages, with two homerooms per grade from first through sixth. What Da-An lacks in size, it has always made up in spirit — a unicycle team that wins gold at the County Cup, an archery program that punches well above its weight, a brass band that once played at the top of Hehuan Mountain, and a moon-gate garden called the Poetry and Arts Garden that visitors still stop to photograph.
2017 年 8 月，蔡忠課校長踏入大安國小校門，成為這所 1953 年創校以來的第十二任校長。他接下的，不是城市裡的大型學校，而是田中鎮三安里、大崙里田野間、只有 52 個孩子的偏遠小學。
田中鎮常被稱為「彰化的穀倉」，大安國小就在穀倉中心：一所農村小學，守護兩個村庄，一到六年級各兩班。大安的規模雖小，卻從不乏精神——獨輪車隊拿下縣長盃金牌、射箭隊屢創佳績、管樂團在合歡山頂合奏、詩藝園月洞門讓訪客駐足拍照。

Da-An's school motto — Integrity, Diligence, Optimism, Aspiration — is not a banner on the wall. It is the daily rhythm of the school, lived out in every classroom, on every unicycle, under every Hehuan Mountain sky.
大安的校訓——誠樸、踏實、樂觀、進取——不只是牆上的四個字，而是每間教室、每台獨輪車、每片合歡山雲海下，日復一日的生活節奏。
Be honest and humble. For a small school, this is not a virtue you display — it is the quiet ground you stand on. Every child at Da-An learns that the first step in becoming a good person is telling the truth, even when it is hard.
誠懇謙虛——在一所偏遠小學，這不是拿來展示的美德，而是腳踏實地的基礎。每個大安的孩子都明白：做一個好人，第一步是說真話，哪怕真話有時並不容易。
Let character be the foundation. The unicycle team does not win four gold medals at the County Cup by wishing — it wins by showing up at practice, day after day, before school, in the sun, in the rain. Steady effort is Da-An's way.
以德為本——獨輪車隊不是靠許願拿下縣長盃四金的，是靠每天早自習前、日曬雨淋中的一次又一次練習。踏實，是大安的方式。
Stay healthy; give thanks. Climbing to the top of Hehuan Mountain and playing brass instruments in the clouds — that is what optimism looks like at Da-An. The world is wide, and a small school can still reach its highest peak.
健康感恩——全師生攀登合歡山主峰、在雲霧中吹奏管樂，這就是大安的樂觀。世界很寬廣，一所小學也可以登上它的最高峰。
Love learning. From the English Listening Championship to AI and STEAM competitions, Da-An's children do not wait for the city to come to them — they step forward, they enter, they compete. Aspiration means always reaching one step further than yesterday.
熱愛學習——從英聽王比賽到 AI 暨 STEAM 創意競賽，大安的孩子不等城市走進來，而是主動踏出去。進取，就是永遠比昨天多踏一步。
Nine years in, a record that shows what a small school can do when every child matters and no talent goes unnoticed.
