comes to Taiwan

In May 2026, Professor David Boe led a cohort of NMU student teachers to Changhua. At Xizhou Junior High, Dena, Zane, and Annamarie observed, co-taught, and led their own lessons; at Yangming Junior High, Mila and Hannah completed a three-week practicum — all of them studying toward careers in TESOL, the teaching of English to speakers of other languages.

2026 年 5 月，David Boe 教授帶領一梯 NMU 師資生來到彰化。在溪州國中，Dena、Zane 與 Annamarie 觀課、協同教學並獨立授課；在陽明國中，Mila 與 Hannah 完成三週實習——他們都正朝著 TESOL（英語作為外語的教學）的職涯方向努力。

For these student teachers, Changhua's classrooms offered what no textbook can: the feel of teaching a language that lives inside another culture's rhythms and expectations. For Taiwan's students, it was living English from people who use it every day — and a real glimpse of the wider world.

對這些師資生而言，彰化的課堂給了任何教科書都無法給的東西：真實感受一門生活在另一種文化節奏與期待裡的語言。對臺灣學生而言，這是來自每天使用英語的人的「活的英文」，也是真實望見更大世界的一扇窗。
