Today is finally Match Day! All your practice — dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork — comes together right here. Take a deep breath. You are ready.
The referee will blow the whistle to start the game. We call this kickoff. Two teams play for about 30 to 60 minutes (in a school game). Every time someone scores, the whistle blows and the game starts again from the middle.
The most important rule isn't a soccer rule — it's fair play. Don't push. Don't trip people. Don't argue with the referee. When you win, don't laugh at the other team. When you lose, don't cry — say "Good game!" and shake hands. That's how real soccer players act.
And remember — your friends, your parents, and your school are cheering for you. Even if the score is 0-5, the most important thing is the smile on your face when the final whistle blows. That's why we play.
