Soccer (in Britain, people say football) is the most popular sport on Earth. More than 250 million people play it in over 200 countries. The game is simple: two teams try to kick a round ball into the other team's goal.
Soccer is played on a big grass field. Each team has eleven players, including one goalkeeper who stays near the goal. Players run, pass, and try to score, but they cannot touch the ball with their hands — only the goalkeeper can.
In Taiwan, soccer is growing fast. Many schools — like ours at Sigang — now have a soccer team. You don't need to be tall. You don't need to be the fastest. You just need a ball, a friend, and a smile.
足球（英國人說 football）是全世界最熱門的運動。在 200 多個國家、超過兩億五千萬人都在踢。規則很簡單：兩隊用腳把圓球踢進對方的球門。比賽在一片大草地上，每隊 11 個人（含一位顧球門的 goalkeeper 守門員）。除了守門員，其他人都不能用手碰球。在臺灣，足球運動正在快速成長，很多學校——包括我們西港——都已經有自己的足球隊。你不必很高、不必跑最快，只要有一顆球、一個朋友、一個笑容，就可以開始。
