In March 2005, after sixteen years of planning, Hu Bei opened its doors in the north fields of Xihu Township — serving the four villages of Xiliao, Dongliao, Taiping, and Datu. The school's founding line was simple: a field, a small town, a school — a warm place for the children of Xihu to grow up joyful and healthy.
Twenty years on, that small school has grown into a campus humming with track teams, table tennis champions, robotics builders, English reciters, and a rooftop full of solar panels. In December 2025, we celebrated our 20th anniversary. We are no longer new — but we are still young.
2005 年 3 月，歷經 16 年的籌備，湖北國小在溪湖鎮北側的田園間正式開學——學區涵蓋西寮、東寮、太平、大突四個里。建校時的一句話很簡單：「田園、小鎮、學校」——讓溪湖的孩子，在愛心溫暖的園地裡，歡欣愉悅、健康成長。
二十年過去，這所小學長成一座有田徑隊、桌球冠軍、機關王機械人、英語朗誦者，與屋頂上整片太陽光電板的校園。2025 年 12 月，我們剛剛慶祝了創校 20 週年。我們不再是新的，但我們依然年輕。

Track and field, table tennis, football, basketball, skating, taekwondo — six sports teams under one elementary roof. Our kids represent Changhua at the national level almost every spring. 田徑、桌球、足球、籃球、溜冰、跆拳道——六支運動隊伍同住一個小學屋頂。每年春天，我們的孩子幾乎都站上全國級的賽場。

Every October, a stage, a microphone, a poem in English. Our students learn early that speaking up is the second half of speaking well.

Mid-December: a Vietnamese mother of one of our students brings rice flour, mung bean paste, and pastel dye, and shows the homeroom how a mooncake is made on the other side of the South China Sea.

Xihu is grape country, vegetable country, sheep country. Our students go to the field, see the dirt, eat the season, and bring back questions our textbooks haven't asked yet.

May 2026 — Hu Bei's track team in the National Elementary Track and Field Championship. Six sports teams, hundreds of training hours, one school of two hundred kids on the national startline.
2026 年 5 月，湖北田徑隊站上全國小學田徑錦標賽。六支運動隊伍、上百小時訓練、兩百多人的小學，站到了全國起跑線上。
A carved relief at our school gate — the legendary carp that leaps the Dragon Gate and becomes a dragon. Twenty years later, we are still telling that story to every child who walks under it.
