What Lukang Township is famous for 特色
Once Taiwan's second-largest port (一府二鹿三艋舺). Lukang preserves the densest concentration of traditional crafts in Taiwan: stained glass, lantern-making, tin-smithing, wood-carving. Longshan Temple (龍山寺, 1786) is called "the Forbidden City of Taiwan" for its extraordinary woodwork. The Dragon Boat Festival and Lantern Festival here are among the island's most celebrated.

Longshan Temple龍山寺
Founded in 1786, Longshan Temple is considered one of the finest examples of traditional Taiwanese temple architecture. Its eight-meter caisson ceiling — assembled entirely without nails — leaves visitors speechless. Scholars and craftsmen from across Asia travel here to study its legendary woodwork.
Lukang Old Street老街
Strolling down Lukang Old Street feels like stepping back into the Qing Dynasty. The lane is lined with century-old merchant houses, traditional snack stalls, and artisan workshops where craftsmen still shape bamboo, tin, and lacquer by hand. Don't miss the famous oyster noodles and phoenix-eye pastries.
Glass Art Street玻璃藝術街
Lukang is Taiwan's leading center for stained-glass and glass-blowing artistry. Many workshops invite visitors to try glass-painting themselves.
Lukang Folk Arts Museum民俗文物館
Housed in a beautiful 1920s baroque-style building, this museum holds over 6,000 artifacts documenting life in old Lukang — from embroidered wedding gowns to antique furniture and traditional farming tools. It is one of the oldest and most complete local history museums in Taiwan.
Wude Martial Arts Temple武德殿
Built during the Japanese colonial era in 1930, this elegant wooden hall was once used for kendo and judo training. Today it stands as a well-preserved reminder of Taiwan's layered history and hosts cultural events and martial arts exhibitions throughout the year.
City God Temple城隍廟
The City God Temple is believed to be protected by a divine magistrate who oversees justice and morality in the community. One of the most active temples in Lukang, it draws huge crowds during Ghost Month (農曆七月) and its colorful processional parades are a highlight of the local festival calendar.
