Hemei is Changhua's textile heart — woolen fabrics, knitted goods, and garments produced here supply Taiwan and export globally. It was home to poet Chen Hsu-ku (陳虛谷, 1896–1965), who wrote resistance verse alongside Lai Ho. The Changhua Bus Company (彰化客運) hub links Hemei to the whole county.
